Program Refund Policy
Request for refunds must be made in writing to the registration office at registrationdesk@cityoffrederickmd gov and must be received no later than five business days prior to the start of the program (unless otherwise stated), 7 days prior to a field reservation, 10 days prior to a satellite site reservation, 14 days prior to a pavilion reservation A processing fee will be charged for all refunds After the established refund deadline, no refunds will be issued

Kids Summer Camp Guide




about our camps/sobre nuestros campamentos
Lunch is provided for free, daily to Playground Program Locations through the City of Frederick’ s Summer Food Service Program. All other campers must provide their own lunch. Refrigeration is not provided at any site.
Field Trips
Trips are taken throughout the summer to various amusement, arts, sports, and outdoor locations. Parents/guardians are notified of these trips via the weekly flyers. Transportation will be provided by City of Frederick Parks and Recreation.
Swimming
Playground Program Camps and Day Camps visit the Edward P Thomas Swimming Pool in Baker Park weekly Campers are tested on their swim ability and a wrist band is provided which permits them into the areas of the pool in which they have the skills to swim in.
Behavior and Discipline Procedures
All parents/guardians will be provided our camp behavior and discipline procedures by the first day of camp These policies are put in place to ensure the safety of our campers and staff
Weather/Emergency Cancellations
Parents/Guardians need to be aware of weather conditions throughout the day, so they can pick up or make other arrangements for their children in case of playground program locations closings due to the weather Call Program Cancellation line at 301-600-6972 Program dates are subject to change based on FCPS schedule

Abilities Unlimited-Half Day Adaptive Sport and Independence Camp are for kids aged 3-22 who use a manual wheelchair daily or need additional assistance and adaptations to participate in sports. (Sports chairs will be provided as they become available). Campers will spend each day learning to play sports and practicing independence skills. Camp will also feature other including arts and crafts, music sessions, therapy dogs, outdoor education, and games. Parents/Guardians: Campers should pack a snack and water each day. In addition, students will also have a hand in helping with costumes, sets and props for the show. There will be two performances in our 115-seat theatre on Saturday 7/19 at 2:00pm and 6:00pm. Lunch break! Come stretch and move your tight muscles after sitting at a desk all morning This is an all-levels class and is meant to prep you for the afternoon through breathing and movement
Flow Yoga
Energy restoring class meant to challenge your strength, flexibility and balance Meant for ages 18and up. This class will challenge your balance and core at times. Mats, blocks and knee pads are available, but feel free to bring your own

Senior Yoga

Nordic Walking
Nordic Walking is a great way to add some gentle cardio to your fitness routine. This technique uses two poles for walking and activates upper body and core muscles in addition to the lower body With proper technique, Nordic Walking can burn up to 46% more calories than walking alone. Important Swim Lesson information:
Parents are NOT permitted in the pool area during class When children do not meet the necessary skill prerequisites, staff may place them in the appropriate level, if space is available Staff may cancel and/or consolidate classes

Glide on front at least 2 body lengths, roll to a back float for 5 seconds, then recover to a vertical position. (This part of the assessment can be performed with assistance.)

While our FIT4BABY® program is on hiatus, we recommend checking out our other workouts all taught by instructors certified in prenatal fitness.

Other weeks the inclusive garden club will meet at the Talley Rec Center in classroom A setting to learn about plants and complete nature/garden-related projects.

Want to get a complete hands-on experience out on a stream? Steve Oster of Voyageurs Fieldsport is partnering with The City of Frederick Parks and Recreation Department to allow participants who complete our fly-casting overview, and who desire next-level training, a half-day of fly-fishing on a Catoctin stream (Big and Little Hunting Creeks, Owens Creek, and others) at a 20-percent discount of his guiding rate.
Discounted half-day guiding trip is redeemable throughout Voyageurs’ Spring and Autumn Catoctin sessions, 3/25-5/19 and 9/15-11/7. All the sport needs to bring is a fishing license and a hat. Voyageurs will supply the rest, from a premium Orvis Helios fly-rod to polarized eyewear and everything in between

Mural Painting 101

Have you ever wanted to paint a mural? In this dynamic program, you’ll learn the basics of mural painting, how to find mural jobs, how to price your work, how to create compositions suited to various environments, and all about the tools and techniques needed to bring your visions to life. In addition to education, you will work side by side with your instructor and classmates to paint a public-facing mural in Frederick and gain a mural for your portfolio!

countries. It is danced to salsa music. It is characterized by quick footwork, rhythmic hip and body movements, and turns. This 6-week course teaches basic and intermediate footwork, turns, and musicality.
