A Message from our Leadership

2022 is a year none of us will forget . After 49 years of the constitutional right to abortion care in the United States, the Supreme Court ruled to overturn the protections granted in Roe v. Wade – triggering Utah’s abortion ban .

However, we were ready for this moment . Ready to fight in court . Ready to rally . And ready to show up every day for our patients – no matter what .

Our legal strategy to fight the abortion ban in the Utah state courts is working – a judge ruled to block the ban and, for now, abortion remains legal in Utah up to 18 weeks . That means the vast majority of Utahns who need abortion care can still get care here in our community .

Thanks to the support and generosity of you and thousands of others, we have been able to keep our doors open throughout the uncertainty of the past few years . From our health centers to our education programs, community engagement, advocacy, fundraising, and administration – our staff, board, and volunteers have proven yet again how adaptable and creative they can be despite the challenges .

We are deeply grateful for your investment in Planned Parenthood Your faith in our work lifts our spirits, even on the hardest days . It is because of your support that our community can count on Planned Parenthood – especially when our right to control our own bodies is threatened .

We want to assure you that no matter what happens with abortion access, we aren’t going anywhere . We know that the majority of Utahns support our work and want sexual and reproductive health care to remain accessible and affordable . We will continue to do all we can to protect reproductive rights and the ability for each of us to live our best lives .

Please help us celebrate all the work we did in 2022! Our staff have shown their strength and commitment to our mission, as we continue to provide quality, compassionate care, innovative education, fight for reproductive rights, and raise thousands of dollars to keep this work going .

Please enjoy our 2022 Annual Report . We hope you are proud of the work we do in partnership with you!

Love Notes from our Abortion Patients

In a year filled with emotional and administrative challenges to getting care, we wanted to share a few love notes from patients who received abortion care at PPAU.

I cannot describe how thankful I am for the staff that helped me through this day. I was very emotional and scared, but each one of your staff was so caring and sweet. I could not have gone through the procedure without their support. Thank you!

The whole staff that took care of me were really great! They all are great workers and are very kind.

I loved everyone that was able to help me. They were all very respectful and made the process much easier.

I have already told all the women I know how to access help through Planned Parenthood and the Abortion Fund!

They were very kind, sweet, professional, and nonjudmental. Answered all my questions before I could even ask. I cannot thank you enough.

Everyone was so helpful and understanding. It couldn’t have been a better experience!

Bans Off Our Beehive and Say Abortion

This year we lost the constitutional protection for abortion care . With a trigger ban on the books in Utah, we spent the spring and summer canvassing, rallying, sharing stories, and caring for our community through this difficult time Thousands of Utahns rallied in May and June at the Capitol . Hundreds showed up for Say Abortion art and storytelling events . And for the first time, we canvassed in Utah to educate our community about abortion - making 4375 outreach attempts, where we identified 520 supporters of abortion rights, recruited 280 new ambassadors, and delivered 270 yard signs . Volunteers also mailed more than 15,000 postcards to Utah voters, educating them on what’s at stake with abortion access and encouraging them to vote in November
