COSTA’S MANTRA HAS ALWAYS BEEN TO “SEE WHAT’S OUT THERE,” LEAVE NO BOXES LEFT UNCHECKED ON LIFE’S GREAT TO-DO LIST OF WATERY ADVENTURES.
We’ve devoted our lives to chasing the most remote places that bring us to life. That’s why we’ve developed high performance sunglasses, to help us reach these sought-after locales.
THEY’RE THE BADGE OF THE EXPLORER.
IT’S TRUE NOW, AND IT WAS TRUE THEN: WE’LL DO ANYTHING TO STAY ON THE WATER LONGER.

And the more we experience the water and everything it has to offer, the more we’re driven to protect it.
That drive is what continues to propel us on our journey to a more sustainable future. Today, Costa’s high quality performance gear - that increasingly incorporates responsible materials * - is worn by leading conservationists, used for international marine research expeditions, and inspires Costa wearers around the world to protect what’s out there.
In 2023, Costa introduced Bio-Acetate to The Del Mar Collection, capturing the same watery spirit while marking one more step forward in our journey to reduce our impact on the watery world.

COSTA’S KICK PLASTIC® INITIATIVE
IS ABOUT REDUCING OUR USE OF SINGLE-USE PLASTICS AS A BRAND AND RAISING AWARENESS OF THE LARGER PROBLEM OF PLASTIC
Costa partnered with Two Conchs Bait & Tackle Shop in Marathon Key, Florida to install a filtered water station and Kick Plastic ® themed meeting space designed to inspire and engage their clients to help reduce the amount of single-use plastic going into our ocean and waterways.
Casa Vieja Lodge, located in Guatemala, installed a high-quality water filtration system and now gives each guest a reusable water bottle upon arrival. The property estimates they’ve eliminated the need for 400,000 single-use plastic bottles since 2018.
Since the launch of the Kick Plastic® Ambassador lens recycling program in 2019, participating eye care professionals have sent more than 50 tons of lenses to be recycled with Piedmont Plastics.
COSTA KICK PLASTIC® AMBASSADORS ARE FISHING CAPTAINS, GUIDES, AND OUTFITTERS AS WELL AS EYE CARE PROFESSIONALS WHO HAVE PLEDGED TO REDUCE SINGLE-USE PLASTICS IN THEIR OPERATIONS.
Costa strives to be mindful of the amount of single-use plastics distributed at events, and we work with organizers and venues like the Miami International Boat Show to install water stations and distribute reusable water bottles.
The Costa Kick Plastic ® Lounge served as an oasis in the desert for festival goers to catch some shade and rehydrate at our Kick Plastic ® water stations while reducing the amount of single-use plastics with Costa reusable water bottles.
WE ARE ALL ONE COAST. IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT BODY OF WATER YOU LIVE ON OR NEAR, IT’S THE WATER THAT UNITES US.
Costa created OneCoast in response to the devastation and heartbreak from the unprecedented 2017 hurricane season, in which Harvey, Irma and Maria ravaged our coasts.
The coasts are places we ALL love to explore and PROTECT - especially in the state of Florida - where Costa was born, our brand roots run deep, and where so many of our Costa team, pros and partners call home.
OneCoast is a Costa initiative that aids coastal communities affected by natural disasters as they rebuild through direct donations, awareness and volunteering.
AN ESTABLISHED 501(C)3, WARF IS A FUND THAT PROVIDES FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO CAPTAINS, GUIDES AND CREW MEMBERS IN THE WAKE OF MAJOR NATURAL DISASTERS.

Coastal communities are truly the lifeblood of our brand. Not only are they built alongside the waters and fisheries we love to spend our days exploring, but these places are also home to a large portion of our core angling community. It’s why we work so hard to protect our coasts, to show up and bring relief to those affected by natural disasters through our OneCoast initiative, and why we established WARF in conjunction with IGFA.”
Jed Larkin, Costa Brand Director
Professional, recreational angling is often the cornerstone of local coastal economies, and the ability for these small businesses and entrepreneurs to get back on their feet after natural disasters is critical to re-establishing the cultural and financial well-being of the areas in which they operate.
To date, the WARF has distributed a total of $305,000 to recreational angling associations in Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Puerto Rico, Belize, Louisiana, The Bahamas, Montana, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Hawaii to help local captains and guides recover from natural disasters.

The IGFA Great Marlin Race (IGMR), presented by Costa, is a partnership between IGFA and Stanford University that pairs recreational anglers with cuttingedge science to learn more about the basic biology of marlin and how they utilize the open ocean habitat. Scientists provide participating anglers with research tags to place on marlin that they catch and release throughout the year. The resulting data is made available to scientists and fisheries managers via an open-access system to improve our understanding of billfish migratory behaviors and oceanographic conditions. IGMR data has been used to produce scientific publications that provide valuable information to resource managers and policy makers responsible for ensuring the long-term conservation of billfish.

Costa’s conservation and sustainability initiatives, combined with the work of our non-profit partners and parent company EssilorLuxottica’s directives, support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on the following:
COSTA IS PART OF THE ESSILORLUXOTTICA GROUP, WHICH IS COMMITTED TO ADDRESSING SUSTAINABILITY AT EVERY STAGE OF ITS VALUE CHAIN, FROM ITS FOUNDATIONS TO ITS ENTIRE ECOSYSTEM OF PARTNERS, CUSTOMERS, SUPPLIERS AND LOCAL COMMUNITIES.
Sustainability is at the very heart of EssilorLuxottica, deeply embedded in its DNA and fundamental to its commitment to corporate responsibility – empowering people to ‘see more and be more’. First introduced in 2021, the Company’s Eyes on the Planet program is built on five key pillars that reinforce the strong connection between its Mission, business strategy and sustainability: Eyes on Carbon, Eyes on Circularity, Eyes on Ethics, Eyes on Inclusion and Eyes on World Sight.
EssilorLuxottica’s efforts focus on optimizing the use of resources while ensuring high product standards, with the objective to shift from fossil-based materials to bio-based and/or recycled materials and embed eco-design in all its innovation developments by end of 2025. Additional efforts include increasing internal recycling capabilities and implementing circular services to extend product life or give products a second life.
In 2024, EssilorLuxottica announced that its near-term greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets had been validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), marking a key milestone in the Company’s efforts to reduce the environmental impact across its entire value chain.
The new 2030 targets address emissions across the Company’s Scopes 1, 2 and 3, in line with the climate mitigation efforts outlined in the Paris Agreement adopted by the United Nations in 2015. EssilorLuxottica commits to reduce absolute Scopes 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030, from a 2022 base year. Additionally, the Group commits to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel- and energy-related activities, upstream transportation and distribution, and waste generated in operations by 25% within the same timeframe.
EssilorLuxottica is on track to reach carbon neutrality in its scope 1 & 2 emissions (direct operations) worldwide by 2025.
