Calabria is located in the centre of the Mediterranean, the region extends southwards from Basilicata and is shaped like a small peninsula surrounded by the Ionian and Tyrrhenian seas. It is separated from Sicily by the Strait of Messina. Calabria, the cradle of ancient civilizations, is the area that gave its name to the entire Italian peninsula. “Italia”was in fact the name that was first given to Calabria in honor of its king Italo. THINGS TO DO IN CALABRIA
The geographical position, climate and morphology of the territory make Calabria ideal for any type of sporting activity. The particularly extensive coastline, with cliffs falling into the sea alternating with little creeks and endless kilometers of beach, offers the chance to practice swimming, sailing and windsurfing. Underwater diving is particularly exciting and you can explore the fantastic seabed. This region, long and narrow between the two seas, boasts exceptional mountains in the center of the territory with a natural environment that is both fascinating and beautiful. During the winter, although the peaks are not particularly high, the mountains of Calabria have abundant snowfalls that allow tourists to practice skiing in well equipped ski resorts. During the other seasons the mountainous areas of Calabria and the nature parks are the ideal places for other sports such as trekking, walking or horse riding. There are also plenty of opportunities to practice more adventurous sports such as rafting, river trekking and, in complete safety and guided by qualified professionals, you can try potholing in the area’s numerous natural caves. The region also offers two golf courses, set in a position where the green is surrounded by the colors of the sea and by Mediterranean vegetation.

Reggio Calabria, which is the largest town of Calabria and also the main centre of commerce, stands in a splendid position on the eastern coast of the Straits of Messina, where the straits open into the Ionian Sea. It enjoys an exceptionally mild climate all year round and, for this reason, is a popular seaside resort.
The territory of the province of Crotone is situated between the Sila mountains to the west and the Ionian Sea to the east, and was in antiquity an area of very early Greek settlements; ancient Kroton, the present province capital, was the hometown of Pitagoras, Milo, Alcmeon. In the early 20th century the province had a remarkable industrial development, and though most of the chemical plants of those days were closed, the car industry is still growing. The main resources however are in the tourist sector and agricultural production, especially wine and wheat.

LOCATION Cirò Marina is located about 40 kilometers north of the areas capital town of Crotone in the province of the same name. Relatively speaking this is a tiny province comprising of around 27 small towns with about a third of the region's population living in the capital town. The ancient city of Crotone (Greek Kroton) was renamed Crotone in the late 1920's and has been an important centre of maritime commerce since the 8th century. It was also once known as the city of physicians even housing a school of Pythagoras in the 6th century furthermore when Hannibal threatened Rome in the 3rd century he spent 3 years in the city before moving on. The region of Calabria is, despite its extensive coastline, one of the most heavily wooded areas in Italy. Sila National Park is an absolute treasure situated between the East and West coastlines (Ionian and Mediterranean respectively) and we implore visitors arriving at Lemezia Terme to take the time and trouble to navigate the hills and hairpin bends of the roads that cuts through the mountains from west to east coast; it's a lovely journey and well worth the extra hour or so of the more direct highway route. Beautiful, almost alpine villages can be found along the way plus some staggering views of the surrounding hills and lakes and, if you are lucky enough to travel during the winter months, the mountain tops will be snow capped and suitable for winter sports yet the coast can still be bathed in warm winter sunlight.
POSIZIONE Cirò Marina si trova a circa 40 km a nord della città di Crotone, nell'omonima provincia. Se così si può definire, è una piccola provincia che comprende circa 27 paesini con quasi un terzo della popolazione residente nel capoluogo. L'antica città di Cotrone (in greco, Kroton) fu ribattezzata Crotone alla fine degli anni 20 ed è stata un importante centro per il commercio marittimo sin dall'VIII secolo. Una volta era anche conosciuta come la città dei medici, in quanto vi ebbe sede la scuola di Pitagora nel VI secolo. Inoltre, quando Annibale minacciò Roma nel III secolo, vi rimase 3 anni prima di lasciare questa terra. Nonostante la sua costa sia infinita, la regione Calabria è una delle zone più boscose d'Italia. Il Parco Nazionale della Sila è un vero tesoro situato tra la costa orientale e quella occidentale (rispettivamente quella ionica e quella mediterranea) e, ai turisti che arrivano a Lemezia Terme, consigliamo vivamente di passare tra quelle colline e i tornanti di quelle strade che si snodano tra le montagne da ovest a est: un viaggio meraviglioso in cui vale proprio la pena investire quell'oretta in più di autostrada. Inoltre potete imbattervi in villaggi alpini, paesaggi collinari meravigliosi, laghi e, se siete abbastanza fortunati, nonostante viaggiate durante i mesi estivi, potrete trovare ancora le cime innevate e dedicarvi agli sport invernali.

The coastline is stretch after stretch of sandy semideserted beaches fronting the crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea. Until, that is, the Italian summer season gets into full swing during the principle months of July and August and then of course the whole region is alive with activity and atmosphere and the demand for accommodation reaches fever pitch! The small and un-spoilt town of Cirò Marina is located on a most picturesque coastline and during the summer months, due to the excellent quality of its beaches, it is one of the most popular touristic destinations along the Ionian coast. Famous for its Cirò wine a DOC (Denomination of Controlled Origin) which can be accompanied by some great food - the area has many excellent restaurants offering a Smörgåsbrod of choice, from excellent local specialties, superb seafood or fine European cuisine. The nearest airport, Lemezia Terme is 65 miles away and receives low cost flights from London Stansted and a choice of low cost routes into other Italian cities with easy and affordable internal transfers to Lamezia. Calabria is currently very affordable which somewhat belies its position as a wonderful tourist destination, one that will undoubtedly increase in popularity in the years ahead. Questa è una residenza solida e ben gestita in stile villaggio vacanze a pochi passi (attraverso un accesso diretto) dalla fantastica spiaggia privata bandiera blu dotata di bar sulla spiaggia, sdraio per prendere il sole, ombrelloni e attrezzature per giocare a beachvolley. Il villaggio si trova all'interno di una pineta ed è a circa 50 metri sopra il livello del mare assicurando viste meravigliose da tutti i punti delle proprietà. Il centro di Cirò Marina è a circa 1 km e mezzo da una svariata gamma di strutture, che includono bar, ristoranti e un porto turistico che assolutamente non poteva mancare! Il complesso comprende vari appartamente magistralmente dislocati su un lato della collina e paesaggio lussureggiante. L'immediata disponibilità è all'interno di un nuovo edificio I cui lavori sono al momento in corso e la cui principale altitudine principale vede ad est il mare e guarda dall'alto la piscina. Ci sono solo 39 appartamenti dislocati su tre piani e mentre le case che si affacciano sul mare sono le principali proprietà, quegli appartamenti verso sud e verso il nord vedono la costa mentre le case ad ovest godono di una vista della campagna e dell'opportunità si godersi un tramonto dal balcone e vedere il sole che dolcemente si nasconde dietro la collina. Tutti gli appartamenti sono dotati di terrazzo o balcone e una vasta scelta da una a tre camere da letto a prezzi davvero competitivi: 62.500,00 Euro (tariffe del marzo '09).
