I’m Mason Andrews, and music has been the heartbeat of my high school journey. From the moment I witnessed the Drifters’ captivating performance during a tech rehearsal as a freshman, I knew that choir was where I belonged. Serving as the Chorale Vice President and immersing myself in various choir ensembles like Men’s Chorus, Concert Choir, and Freshman Mixed has been an incredible privilege. Beyond the melodies, I’ve balanced my passion for singing with sports, running cross country and playing basketball in my early years. Now, as I prepare to embark on a new chapter at Kent State to study nutrition, I eagerly anticipate auditioning for the Nova Jazz program while continuing to share my voice in local musicals and vocal performances. My parents have been unwavering in their support, attending every performance and instilling in me the belief that I can achieve anything. I owe immense gratitude to Mr. Kieffer and Ms. Meese, who not only shaped my musical abilities but also imparted invaluable life lessons. As I bid farewell to GlenOak, I urge others to seize every moment, savoring the magic of choir and high school because, as I’ve learned, it’s an experience like no other.
I’m Ava Collins, and my journey through high school has been filled with harmonies, creativity, and a drive to make a lasting impact. Serving as the Secretary for Chorale while singing in Women’s Choir and Freshman Mixed has been a joyous part of my experience. Alongside my choir commitments, I’ve led as Head Captain and Choreographer of the Dazzling Dancers, bringing movement to life with passion and precision. Track and Field has also been a thrilling pursuit, keeping me active and engaged. Looking ahead, I’m eager to pursue studies in either Fine Arts and Architecture or Law in college, aiming to leave a permanent and positive mark on my community. Reflecting on cherished memories, Junior year’s May Show stands out as a great time for creating laughter and friendships with seniors and others. One standout moment was the accidental slap I delivered to Daniel Herttna onstage during my sophomore year – a hilarious mishap that still brings a smile to my face. Looking ahead, I’m excited to embark on my next chapter, attending Stark State College before transferring to The University of Akron to pursue Cardiac Sonography. Serving as the Drifters Student Director has been a highlight, allowing me to lead and collaborate with my peers. One of my fondest memories was the exhilarating experience of running around Disney World with my best friends, making unforgettable memories. I’m Janiya Foster, and my high school journey has been a whirlwind of music, service, and growth. From Chorale to Drifters, Notables, Women’s Chorus, and Freshmen Mixed, my time in the choir has been filled with unforgettable moments. Reflecting on cherished memories, the outdoor concert in my freshman year and the chorale symposium in my junior year stand out as highlights, where music transcended the ordinary and brought us together. Alongside my musical pursuits, I’ve been actively involved in various activities, from serving in the National Honors Society to taking CCP classes at Kent Stark and working part-time as a retail associate at DSW and as a nanny. My passion for American Sign Language led me to serve as a student aide for ASL classes and volunteer for children’s ministry at churches. As I prepare to move on to the next chapter of my journey at Kent State to become an ASL Interpreter, I’m grateful for the inspiration from my brothers and teachers, whose influence paved the way for me to find a second family within the choir department.

As a member of Chorale, Women’s Chorus, and Freshmen Mixed, I’ve found peace and friendships within the choir community, with standout memories like singing Ascendit Deus last year alongside Josie and my fellow tenors, feeling the pride of our collective harmony. Beyond the choir room, I’ve been actively involved in various activities, serving as the GlenOak Ohio FFA chapter secretary, a student ambassador for two years, and juggling two jobs. It’s hard to pick just one favorite memory, but if I had to choose, it would be between the unforgettable performances of GI Joe during my sophomore year and the laid-back beach day with Chorale in Florida. Beyond the choir room, I’ve been actively engaged in a variety of activities, including coaching and captaining the Step Team, serving as Student Council President and Ambassador, and participating in organizations like National Honor Society, Key Club, and Mu Alpha Theta, among others. I’m Novaleigh Plotts, and my high school journey has been filled with memorable choir experiences. From Concert Choir and Treble Chorus to Freshman Mixed, choir has been a source of joy and camaraderie for me. Some of my favorite choir memories are the clapouts on May Show nights and getting ready with all of my friends. Outside of choir, I’ve been involved in the Teacher Pathways Program and have helped with choir placements at the middle school level. As I prepare to take a gap year and enter the workforce before pursuing a college education focused on Psychology and Teaching, I want to share some advice with my peers: let yourself be free and enjoy choir and any school activities while you have them because they’re very special to be a part of.
I’m Sean Saunders, and my high school journey has been intertwined with the music program. I’ve been an active participant in the musical fabric of GlenOak High School, lending my voice to Men’s Chorus, Chorale, Concert Choir, and Freshmen Mixed. Serving as the Concert Choir Vice President, I’ve played a pivotal role in shaping our choir’s dynamics and performances. One of my fondest choir memories is the electrifying Jamaica medley performed during May Show 2022, a testament to the unforgettable moments we’ve shared through music. Beyond the choir room, I channel my creativity as the design editor for the Eagle and find solace in my youth group activities. As I look forward to pursuing an integrated social studies major at Kent State University, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my parents for their unwavering support.
I’m Austin Shahan, and my high school journey has been marked by my involvement in various choirs, including Chorale, Men’s Chorus, Concert Choir, and Mixed Choir. My name is Boston Upshaw, and my high school journey has been filled with musical exploration and creative pursuits. From my involvement in Chorale, Drifters, Men’s Chorus and Notables to Freshman Mixed, choir has been a central part of my experience. Looking ahead, I’m passionate about pursuing a career focused on Music Production and Sound Engineering, with interests in Voice Acting, Electrical Engineering, and sound effects design. One of my fondest choir memories is the exhilarating feeling of stepping on stage for G.I. Joe, shedding my nervousness with the support of my family and friends. Outside of choir, I’ve been active as a Music Producer and Artist.
