PLAID CYMRU IFANC YN GALW AM BRIODAS GYFARTAL AR DRAWS EWROP Yn ystod Cynhadledd Flynyddol Cynghrair Rydd Ewrop Ifanc (EFAy) yn Santiago de Compostela, Galisia heddiw, mae Cadeirydd Cenedlaethol dros dro Plaid Cymru Ifanc, Paul Stevenson, wedi cyflwyno cynnig i alw ar holl aelod-wladwriaethau’r Undeb Ewropeaidd i gyfreithloni priodasau i gyplau o’r un rhyw ac i ddeddfu i roi i’r cyplau hynny yr hawl i fabwysiadu plant. Mae Plaid Cymru Ifanc hefyd yn galw ar EFAy i gefnogi pobl LHDTh yn eu brwydr am hawliau cyfartal ar draws Ewrop a’r byd, boed hynny o ran priodasau neu mewn unrhyw faes arall. Dywedodd Cadeirydd Cenedlaethol dros dro Plaid Cymru Ifanc, Paul Stevenson: ‘Gyda phriodas gyfartal yn dod yn gyfreithlon yng Nghymru a Lloegr eleni, a deddfwriaeth debyg newydd ei chymeradwyo yn yr Alban, rydym yn awyddus i EFAy ddweud yn glir ein bod ni, fel pobl ifanc, flaengar ar draws Ewrop, o’r farn y dylai pobl LHDTh fwynhau’r union un hawliau â phawb arall, gan gynnwys yr hawl i briodi. ‘Serch cyfreithloni priodasau i gyplau o’r un rhyw yma, mae rhagfarn, gwahaniaethu, a thrais yn erbyn pobl LHDTh yn dal i fod yn broblem enfawr ym mannau eraill yn Ewrop ac ar draws y byd. Yn wir, mae’r rhain yn dal i fod yn broblem yn ein gwlad ni. Dyna pham mae’n hanfodol ein bod ni’n gwneud pob dim y gallwn i godi’n lleisiau dros hawliau dynol y bobl hyn sy’n dioddef bob math o greulondeb a dallbleidiaeth.’ Ychwanegodd llefarydd ar ran y grŵp ar gyfer cefnogwyr LHDTh y blaid, Plaid Pride: ‘Mae Plaid Pride yn croesawi yn gynnes iawn galwad Plaid Cymru Ifanc am gydraddoldeb i bobl LHDTh ar draws Ewrop, gan gynnwys yr hawl i briodi ac i fabwysiadu plant. Rydym ni fel plaid wedi bod yn gyson ein cefnogaeth i bobl LHDTh, gan gynnwys pan i 100% o’n cynrychiolwyr yn San Steffan bleidleisio o blaid yr hyn a elwir nawr yn Ddeddf Priodasau (Cyplau o’r Un Rhyw).’

PLAID CYMRU YOUTH CALLS FOR EQUAL MARRIAGE ACROSS EUROPE During the European Free Alliance Youth (EFAy) conference in Santiago de Compostela today, the Acting National Chair of Plaid Cymru Youth, Paul Stevenson, has presented a motion to call on all EU member states to legalise marriage for same-sex couples and to give those couples the right to adopt. Plaid Cymru Youth has also called on EFAy to support LGBT people in their struggle for equal rights across Europe and the world, in terms of marriage and in all other matters. Plaid Cymru Youth’s Acting National Chair, Paul Stevenson, said: ‘With the first same-sex marriages taking place in Wales and England this year, and the counterpart legislation having just been approved in Scotland, we are eager for EFAy to say clearly that we, as young and progressive Europeans, believe that LGBT people should enjoy exactly the same rights as everyone else, including the right to marry. ‘Despite the legalisation of same-sex marriage here, prejudice, discrimination, and violence against LGBT people continues to be a massive problem elsewhere in Europe and across the world. Indeed, these continue to be an issue in our country. That’s why it’s so important that we do all that we can to stand up for the human rights of these people who are suffering terrible cruelty and bigotry.’ A spokesperson for the Party of Wales’ LGBT supporters’ group, Plaid Pride, added: ‘Plaid Pride very much welcomes Plaid Cymru Youth’s call for equality for LGBT people across Europe, including the right to marry and adopt children. We as a party have consistently been supportive of LGBT people, not least when 100% of our representatives in Westminster voted in favour of what is now the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act.’ = = DIWEDD / ENDS = =
