Small Engine Repair (2-Stroke Engine) NEW As an introductory course to small engine repairs, we will focus on 2-stroke engines. Enjoy learning how to diagnose, repair, and maintain your own equipment or begin education to a possible career in the outdoor power equipment industry. OCCUPATIONAL TRAINING FIRE & EMERGENCY SERVICES TRAINING Emergency Medical Technician The Emergency Medical Technician Certification is a qualified pre-hospital program consisting of didactic course work. The following competencies include but are not limited to the recognition, assessment, and management of medical emergencies. The EMT performs skills such as CPR, artificial ventilations, oxygen administration, basic airway management, AED defibrillation, spinal immobilization, vital signs, and hemorrhage control. Successful completion of the course will allow the student the opportunity to sit for the North Carolina Office of EMS certification examination. 203 hours. $181.25 plus additional costs. HEALTH CARE Phlebotomy (National Certification) Phlebotomy training prepares you to draw blood specimens from patients for the purpose of testing and analyzing blood. A phlebotomist's job includes maintenance of equipment used in obtaining blood specimens; the use of appropriate communication skills when working with patients; the selection of venipuncture sites; the care of blood specimens; and the entry of the testing process into the computer, as well as clerical duties associated with record keeping of the blood tests. This course consists of theory and clinical experience in performing blood collections. You must be a high school graduate or have your high school equivalency, be CPR certified or scheduled to take BLS Healthcare Provider, and meet immunization requirements.

Nursing Assistant II

Medication Aide

The Nursing Assistant II course prepares graduates to perform advanced nursing procedures. It includes 80 hours classroom/ lab and 80 hours clinical learning experiences.

Students desiring to enroll in this class must meet admission requirements, be CPR certified through an American Heart Association approved CPR course, and have a current listing as an NA I with the Division of Health Sciences Regulations in Raleigh. Upon successful completion, the NA II graduate will be listed with the NC Board of Nursing with employment opportunities at the hospital, doctor's office, and home health levels. At the end of the course, the successful graduate will submit a Board of Nursing Test Fee of $24. Prerequisite: Nursing Assistant I. 160 hours. $215; book is approximately $90.

This course is designed to meet the training requirements for becoming qualified to be a Medication Aide. This course will cover the six rights of medication administration for non-licensed personnel. Topics will include medication administration via the oral, topical and instillation routes, medical asepsis, hand hygiene, terminology, and legal implications.

Upon completion, you should be able to take the competency exam and demonstrate skills necessary to qualify for listing on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry. You must be a Nursing Assistant I to work as a Medication Aide in a Skilled Nursing Facility. Instructor: N. Bunch. 24 hours. $80; book is approximately $15.

Pharmacy Technician Training This course provides you with the basic knowledge and skills required to work as a technician in a pharmacy. This course includes compounding, calculations, drug classifications, and review for certification. At the end of the course you will be prepared to sit for the PTCB certification exam. Pharmacy technicians who are certified are being employed in traditional as well as innovative practice models across the nation. Employing CPhTs allows pharmacies to expand services and enhance patient care, and gives pharmacists more time to spend with patients, providing drug information, answering questions, and promoting compliance with medication regimens. Certification provides the public and pharmacists with greater confidence in their pharmacies. Instructor: Greg Morris.

All students are required to show a photo ID in order to test. The Placement Testing Center is located on PCC's campus in the Warren Building, Room 2402. It begins by covering all the basics of arrhythmia interpretation and covers cardiac anatomy and physiology and clinical interpretation of the electrocardiography and pacemaker rhythms.

PERSONAL ENRICHMENT Motorcycle Safety Foundation: Basic Rider's Course This 22-hour course is part of the NC Motorcycle Safety Program. In this class, you will learn the basics of operating a motorcycle. 100% attendance of all scheduled class hours is mandatory. NO EXCEPTIONS! You must wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts, boots over the ankle, full fingered gloves, and eye protection (sunglasses or prescription eyewear is permissible). Helmets are available, but you are encouraged to bring your own if you have them. Motorcycles are furnished by PCC. Riders must be 16 years of age, but are not required to hold a driver's license to participate in the class.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to forego the driving portion of the NC DMV test for gaining your motorcycle endorsement. Pre-registration at least 3 days prior to the beginning of the class is required.

NOW OFFERING FULL & HALF DAY! BMX Camp Ages 6-18

Bulldog Adventures Ages 7-13

These full day camp options will bring a lot of Adventure! This week of fun will consist of different day trips including the ECU Low Ropes Course, a tour of Simply Natural Creamery & Jersey Farm in Ayden, visiting River Park North and doing some hiking, learning about the Wetlands at Goose Creek State Park, bowling and Lions Water Adventure in Kinston, a scavenger hunt at NC Estuarium and other locations yet to be determined. Bring a bagged lunch, snacks, and water. Also don't forget the sunscreen, bathing suit/towel when needed, bug spray, hat/sunglasses, and any medications.

Archery Camp Ages 7-18

Are you an experienced archer or just want to know what it’s like? Campers will learn proper breathing techniques, timing, preparation, finger and string position, and getting into the “moment’ of the shot. Campers will also have the opportunity to create their own arrow as they learn the parts that make up the arrow and what makes it go!

Golf Camp Ages 8-16

This four-day camp is geared for juniors of all ability levels.

Camp will introduce the game of golf including rules and etiquette, full swing, and short game fundamentals. On-course opportunities will be provided. Golf clubs are recommended but not mandatory. Bradford Creek Golf Course can provide clubs if needed.

Scuba & Snorkeling Ages 10-18

Experience what it takes to become a scuba diver! Campers will be introduced to the basics of scuba diving and snorkeling.

We will start the week with classroom introduction but will soon take to the pool for hands-on experience. * Students will be required to pass a basic swim test before the first pool session.

A lifeguard will be on duty during all pool sessions.

Learn top notch tricks while supporting your skills and greatly enhancing your abilities. Offered by the riders of ProTown BMX, students will participate in groups of similar skills and age. Course will offer safety education, bike maintenance, general skatepark etiquette, and skills/tricks using different ramps. All participants need to be able to ride a bike without training wheels. Any bike will do but prefer a BMX type bike with 2 pegs, rear hand brakes, and a free wheel. Also required are proper fitting helmets and knee pads. Protown BMX will have some demo bikes available to use with helmets and knee pads for purchase at discounted prices.

MAC & Cheese/Mural Painting 6th - 12th grade

Combine Music, Acting & Choreography with a little Ham, Cheese and a paintbrush and you have a palette for pure fun!

Begin the day Greenville Museum of Art and end the day with Music Academy of Eastern Carolina. Have a week of GLEE, enjoy creating a show choir performance and a mural painting on the Museum's picket fence by Friday! Come share with your friends in a live arts atmosphere where everyone will be asking for more. Bring a bagged lunch.

Want to try a variety of art mediums and musical instruments?

Begin the day exploring musical instruments: woodwinds, brass, strings, percussion, guitar, piano, voice and recorders with the Music Academy of Eastern Carolina. Next, your afternoon is filled with sculpting, painting, drawing, molding and more with the Greenville Museum of Art. The week is a hands-on time for you to learn about and try many art and music instruments while Music Academy faculty, Greenville Art Museum artists and guest artists assist you. What a great opportunity to see what instrument and medium is right for you! Bring a bagged lunch.

Beginning Guitar Academy Ages 7-18

Do music symbols look like foreign drawings to you? Learn to speak the musical language with your guitar! Unlock the mysteries of music and guitar, get started with chords; rhythm patterns and strums; learn successful practice techniques; and much more. Students will need their own guitar. North Carolina Heritage Through the Arts K - 6th and 6th - 12th grade

Embark on a journey through North Carolina, discovering great contemporary and traditional art offerings from around the state through drawing, painting, mixed media and sculpture; storytelling; music making; and creative movement.

Discover visual art and music that has North Carolina roots by experiencing the many artists who call NC home.

Join us in an exploration of 3D Sculpture where campers will explore the work of various artists to influence their own sculptures.

Jewelry Making Ages 7-12

Join us in an exploration of Jewelry Making. The jewelry will be hammered copper pendants and campers will learn how to braid or weave cord for necklaces. Campers will enjoy making necklaces, earrings, and bracelets!

3D Modeling Ages 11-18

Would you like to learn to make 3-dimensional objects from a computer model? In this camp you will be introduced to new softwares including “Sketch Up”, “Solidworks” and “GibbsCam”.

Then you will take your 3D files and make them using cool 3D printers, metalworking machinery, CNC machines and more.

Sculpture Exploration

Explore NC Craft from functional Native American Pottery to contemporary high end jewelry making. Craft and art has been at the center of North Carolina life for centuries, whether made by Native Americans, early Moravian immigrants to the Piedmont region, potters in the Catawba Valley and Seagrove areas, or enthusiasts who “rediscovered” art in the last century.

Uncover an exciting world of music, especially jazz, rhythm and blues, funk, gospel, blues, church music, rap, country music, ballad singing, Cherokee Music, mountain swing, shape-note singing, marching bands and beach music in our own counties of Eastern NC, as well as through Central North Carolina and the Mountain Region. North Carolina’s abundance of native artists and musicians is one of the state’s best kept secrets. Make your connection to NC arts! Bring a bagged lunch.

3rd - 5th grade

Come be a part of the fun with hands-on creativity! Create your own sculptures using a variety of media including clay, wood, and paper mache. You will also learn about a variety of sculptors and how they created their masterpieces! Materials, tools and technical assistance are provided to accomplish virtually any type of sculpture. Student Accident Insurance is available for purchase, but is not mandatory, for the term of your child’s enrollment.

Fees Registration fees vary for each camp and are NONREFUNDABLE unless cancelled by the college. Fees may be paid by check, money order, Visa or MasterCard (debit or credit). When paying by check, a separate check must be written for each child enrolled. T-shirt is included in registration fee.

Cancelled Camps and Changes Pitt Community College reserves the right to cancel any camp prior to the first meeting due to limited enrollment. In such a case, you will be notified and your fee will be refunded. We also reserve the right to change instructors.

Transportation The parent or guardian is responsible for transportation to and from camps, regardless of camp location. Transportation will be provided to Archery ONLY. The student is expected to arrive 15-20 minutes before the camp start time. All students should be picked up promptly when camp is over.

Breaks There will be a scheduled break time for each camp.

During this time, students may eat snacks brought from home or purchased from campus drink and snack machines. If your child wants to purchase snacks, you must provide correct change. Explore Camp is not responsible for money lost in machines.

Lunch Students must provide their own meals. Students may not leave campus for lunch unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. Lunch can be eaten in between camps on campus.

REFUND POLICY •• No refunds or transfers for Self-Supporting (SEF) courses unless the course is canceled by Continuing Education.

•• Refunds are automatically processed by the Cashier's Office for all courses canceled by Continuing Education.

The College may refund registration fees under the following circumstances: •• If a class is canceled due to insufficient enrollment, the student will receive a 100% refund.

•• If a student officially withdraws from an Occupational Extension (OE) class prior to the first class session, the student will receive a 100% refund.

•• After an OE class begins and a student officially withdraws from the class prior to or by the 10% point of the scheduled hours, the student will receive a 75% refund. * This refund is limited to the registration fee and does not include accident insurance, liability insurance, textbooks, or supplies. To officially withdraw for a refund, students must sign a refund form on or before the 10% point of the class. This form is available in the Continuing Education & Community Development Division office.
