BulSU Hagonoy Campus concludes Founding Anniversary Celebration on Research Seminar

As part of the week-long celebration of Bulacan State University’s founding anniversary, Aspiring Future Educators Association (AFEA) conducts a Research Seminar entitled “Selecting a Research Topic” last December 9, 2022, at BulSU Hagonoy Campus to discuss different factors that need to consider when choosing a research topic. The seminar, which gathered the bonafide students of BulSU Hagonoy Campus, featured Dr. Christian Liwanag, a guest faculty at BulSU Hagonoy Campus. According to Mr. Liwanag, one of the main problems of the students when it comes to their research project is selecting a topic. He believes that a successful research project starts with a good topic. “Choosing a topic is the first and maybe the most important step of the research writing process.”, Mr. Liwanag stated. He also gave an informative presentation regarding the Dos of

Choosing a Topic. He emphasizes to the students that a topic for research should be relevant, have enough resources, and should be interesting for them. Mr. Liwanag also talks about the internet and its advantage in writing research projects. He reminds the students to always look for reliable resources when looking for related studies on the internet. During his discussion of primary and secondary resources, he introduced to the students the E-saliksik, the DepEd’s new research portal that aims to make education research more accessible to every student and researcher across the Philippines. In the latter part of the seminar, the students were given a chance to ask questions about the topics presented in the seminar. Mr. Liwanag received questions regarding the implementation and publication of research projects, different software that can help in writing a research project, as well as what to do when

feeling discouraged in writing your research project. At the end of the seminar, Mr. Jaymar Luza, faculty from BulSU Hagonoy Campus, gave his closing remarks. In his message, Mr. Luza describes research writing as “very traumatic “, it is like molding each student and researcher to develop themselves professionally. He also showed his appreciation to all the students who attended the seminar. The research seminar was a venue for the students to gain insights about the research writing process and help them feel motivated in writing their research project.

Teacher-Education Department Conducts Extension Program for Reading Literacy

The Teacher-Education Department of BulSU Hagonoy Campus launched the “Adopt-A-School: Building Community Through Literacy Project” extension initiative on November 23, 2022, to enhance reading literacy at Carillo Elementary School spearheaded by Dr. Ferdinand L. Alcantara, and Mr. Nataniel M. Tesnado.

The project leader of the extension program, Dr. Ferdinand L. Alcantara and Sir Nataniel M. Tesnado committed to offering their assistance and time to the students of Carillo Elementary School, particularly those students who require extra work to be more prepared and adaptabl in the reading process.

According to United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), less than 15% of all students in the Philippines can read simple texts and most of these students are 10 years old. They claimed that it was one of the impacts of the almost two-year closure of schools because of a pandemic. Without a doubt, Filipino young students are struggling with reading literacy. Therefore, the Teacher-Education Department of BulSUHagonoy ran an extension program to strengthen the reading literacy of primary pupils of Carillo Elementary School to meet the demands of reading literacy in education. Meanwhile, student teachers at Carillo Elementary School promote the celebration of National Reading Month with the theme “Bawat Bata Bumabasa Sa Kabila ng Pandemya”. The seven student teachers from BSED English 3A BulSU Hagonoy Campus emphasize the importance of reading for young people’s development and their future despite the spectacle that the worldwide pandemic has generated.

The seven student teachers from BulSU Hagonoy Campus spearheaded the program with the intention of enhancing word pronunciation, familiarizing the pupils with the alphabet and syllables, reading texts, and increasing their reading comprehension. Throughout the five sessions during the program, the student educators observed as the students’ love of reading and enthusiasm for literacy rose. They were able to see the effort the children put out to increase their reading competence as they diligently attempted to analyze every text they read and expand their vocabulary. As the extension program continues, the reading comprehension of the Grade 6 pupils appears to be increasing, as seen by their growing knowledge of words, phrases, and texts together with their speech. the spectacle that the worldwide pandemic has generated.

The English Majors Take a Step towards Success

Writing with content and organization can make a ladder onto success.

The amazing guest speaker, Ms. Cristine Bernadette C. Aboga from the World English Malolos, was invited by Ms. Pauline Lie Andrei Castillo (PROEM’s Third Year Representative) and by the Premier Organization of English Majors (PROEM), who carried out the relevant and beneficial workshop for all the English majors, which had the theme “A Step to Success: English Proficiency Workshop”, in the Audio-Visual Room (AVR) at Bulacan State University–Hagonoy Campus on Friday, May 05, 2023, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The event started with the National Anthem and followed by Hagonoy Hymn and BulSU Hymn, which were facilitated by the PROEM’s officers. After that, Ms. Kimberly C. Comia was leading the opening prayer for the workshop’s fruitful discussion and outcome.

Before proceeding to the opening remarks and inspirational message, the two emcees, Mr. Mark Anthony Diama and Ms. Raillyn Santiago, facilitated the energizer activity ‘The Karaté’ to make the audience and environment in the AVR more lively and awake.

The Department Head, Teacher-Education, Sir. Nemencio V. Tretasco shared some insights, in the opening remarks, regarding the importance of the workshop for English majors. He emphasized that the workshop will help them to become competent in the field of teaching.

Dr. Felicidad A. Eleogo, BulSU Hagonoy Campus Dean, pointed out the significance of conducting a workshop or seminar. She also asked the English majors to take this kind of opportunity seriously since writing is an important skill for English teachers.

After the initial parts of the program, the emcees welcomed and introduced the guest speaker, Ms. Cristine Bernadette C. Aboga. The speaker began by asking the two questions, “Is speaking in English frightening?” and “Which one is more difficult? Speaking or writing” Suddenly, there were different responses from the audience. The speaker then proceeded to the most crucial part of the program. She requested the students to take a picture of the two paragraphs on her presentation. Also, she asked the audience to analyze the paragraphs and share something about them. Several students shared their thoughts on each paragraph. Eventually, she presented the two essential questions, “What is asked?” and “What is the task?”, that should always be considered in writing to have great content. The speaker likewise highlighted that it is important to know the purpose of your work. Furthermore, she taught the students on how to organize their ideas in writing by considering these things: “1. Which ideas belong

together?”, “2. How many paragraphs?”, and “3. Word count per paragraph”. The speaker, in this part, also focused on the importance of starting from general to specific idea to help the readers understand easily what the text is trying to say. Eventually, the speaker finished her talk by being thankful to those respective people who welcomed and invited her, especially to the PROEM and BulSU Hagonoy Campus. Before the closing remarks, the PROEM and other respective personnels awarded the guest speaker, Ms. Cristine Bernadette C. Aboga, for her insightful and informative talk about writing. Is It Enough?

The news conference “KALASAG: Boses ng Manggagawa” was conducted on May 8, 2023, and it covered the experiences of the labor sector in regards to a variety of topics, including their wages, their rights, and how the government values them as employees. Here, you may also hear their complaints and what they want to say as workers who have dreams for their families. We all know that once we graduate and join the workforce, we will all go through the things mentioned in the press conference. However, one thing that caught everyone’s attention was the question of whether the needs of every worker during the current administration and following the pandemic would be met. Interviewees at the conference claimed that single parents and those who want to work should both have equal rights. Even though it’s interesting that there is a law set aside for them, the stigma surrounding them hasn’t yet vanished, especially when it comes to entering the workforce. May the law be meaningful and properly implemented for them because it’s difficult to enter the workforce, especially if you’re a single parent and the only person providing for your family. However, the local government was able to provide their need for employment and financial support for their families. The public sector employees who claimed that the advantages of working for the government make their jobs satisfying. They claimed that because of their employment in the public sector and the perks they receive, they were able to send their kids to college. The teachers, however, who despite their efforts to raise students’ knowledge and awareness, do not make enough money to compensate for their labor, command the most attention. How much longer will educators put up with the fact that, despite everything they are doing to deliver high-quality instruction, their sacrifice is to provide a path for the next generation to pursue their goals and finish their education? According to a survey by Pulse Asia, 50% of teachers are dissatisfied with their jobs, particularly because they are underpaid. The instructors who participated in this survey are public school teachers who work for the government. With the present cost of things, their position as teachers, and the effort they put into their work as teachers, their pay is insufficient for them. Despite their desire for a better future for themselves and their family, how long will they continue to work to ensure that every young person has a bright future?

How long will their urge to re energize themselves be taken into consideration? Do they not also have families? Are you in class? have a desire for their household? The drivers who are still fighting for their old automobiles that will eventually be taken away and replaced with new ones were one of the things that garnered notice. We are aware of how little money they make, and that it will not be enough to sustain their families. Include the financing they will receive in order to purchase a cutting-edge public transportation vehicle. Every one of us does not simply live with passion. We also have needs that must be satisfied, and we do so by extending the bones that others have built with their labor, blood, and tears. Their sacrifices helped the nation and their fellow citizens develop. Instead of making their situation worse, find a solution. Since employees are what keep us all alive, may their difficulties be addressed and resolved in every area. Workers should stand up for their rights rather than use them to further the wealth of the powerful.

4

They, too, want to live comfortably. They merely want to support their family, which is already downtrodden because of the exorbitant costs and expenses they often meet. If they are not burdened by daily expenses, which we all know won’t be sufficient, no worker will demand. One of the people who assists us in getting to school so that we can complete our education as students is the driver. They are one of the individuals who aid in our travels. Our teachers serve as a bridge for us to traverse to our final destination, the future we both aspire to. They are the reason we keep going in spite of our difficulties because, without them, we wouldn’t have the dreams we are battling for. Let’s consider what they are going through and ask ourselves if they deserve what they have and what they make. Are they not in need, and do they have issues that can be resolved but choose not to take action? There are some things that ought to be provided for and aimed at our employees. They deserve certain things for which we as students and potential employees should fight because doing so will benefit not only them but also ourselves and other potential employees. Workers are one of the most vital components of the

development of the nation, so let’s fight for their rights. They are the reason everyone of us has a decent life, in addition to being teachers and drivers. the basis for our independent means of support. The cause of the nation’s prosperity Every worker is on an equal footing, and whether you work for the government or the private sector or are a single parent, you are the family’s primary provider of income. The prosperity of the Filipino people, the nation, and the economy is due to the workers. Although we are tenacious, determined, and industrious, we still need each other’s support. In charge of our own lives, we are both teachers and drivers. Our dream can be realized and enjoyed because everyone of us is persistent, so we educate ourselves as we proceed along the path to it. To assist our employees in creating a wonderful life for their families, may we also serve as their teachers and drivers?

Why do we have high demands for employing workers but not for paying them? Why does the quality they possess not match the quality for which they should be compensated? Why don’t we pay attention to those who support public hopes?

If not them, why not? Why don’t we focus on the employees who provide for their own families?

Is the modernization and phase-out of jeepneys truly necessary?

Ivalo

Jeepneys are being phased out because they are outdated and should be replaced with modern jeepneys to make room for newer, safer, and more environmentally friendly airconditioned minibuses. They claim to be lending the government to jeepney drivers so they can switch from their traditional vehicle to a modern one. The jeepney drivers claim that they are unable to repay the government loan because their daily revenue is insufficient to simply provide for their families’ sustenance. However, the government is pressuring it to update the daily used public transit system. It is beneficial if you give it some thought, especially for commuters who utilize public transportation on a daily basis, but do we really need to upgrade the wellknown classic jeepneys in our nation?

Due to the absence of upgraded jeepneys being adopted, commuters will have a difficult time finding another conveyance if the conventional jeepneys are phased out. Although they can afford it, they prefer to take jeepneys even though they could utilize other transportation options like trains, tricycles, and UV express because the prices are lower for other commuters. The fare for the updated jeepney will be substantially more than the traditional, which will harm other passengers’ wallets if the modernized jeepney is implemented and the traditional is phased out. It will be difficult for the passengers because the jeepney fare is just cheap and will climb if it is replaced by a modernized one in a situation where the charge is already high for everyone but the money is insufficient.

In addition, jeepney drivers, whose modest daily wages are insufficient to meet their family’s demands, are another group of people who will be significantly impacted by modernisation. If the jeepneys are upgraded, as was stated, the drivers who cannot pay loans will be given them; however, as the drivers do not make enough money, they will sink in debt. If these drivers are reduced to poverty, where will they be picked up? The drivers will receive loans from the government, which will later be

5

Another factor is that our traditional jeepneys are a part of our culture and promote tourism in our nation. Particularly foreign visitors are among the tourists who seek out the traditional jeepneys’ bright colors and attractive designs. Other visitors take pictures of these vehicles to display them in their own nations, much like the band 5SOS did when they used this jeep to promote our nation during a recent concert tour. Our country is the only one with a special and solely Filipino jeepney, therefore it is now one of the sought-after by foreigners who give tourism and uniqueness to our country. If they want modernism, they can convert classic jeepneys to resemble minibuses, just like other drivers do.

Another thing here is that traditional jeepneys can be promoted and strengthened so that the tourism of the country will be strengthened, it will help the drivers and for the commuters, the traditional jeepneys are more affordable especially for their I hope they will think of programs that will help especially the drivers who will be hit so that they can move up in life as well as have enough income to live their family There are numerous ways to offer commuters the high-quality services that the government demands, such as the clean, breathable air and fresh atmosphere that may be created by planting trees, lowering carbon emissions, and avoiding the use of nonrenewable energy sources. A common

issue here is the entry of beggars who suddenly enter the jeepneys; this should be solved by the social workers to guide and relocate them to a safer environment. Therefore, why not strengthen and expand the police and officials so as to provide security to the passengers?

Traditional jeepneys should no longer be used on the road for a variety of reasons, but there are also a variety of solutions. If the government wants to provide passengers with highquality public transportation, why did they forget to include the drivers who will be impacted by it? Is there truly a secret objective behind the modernisation of jeepneys? Do we really need to upgrade the classic jeepneys?

If I wear the President’s shoes

Stepping into the shoes of the President of the Philippines, one is immediately confronted with the weighty responsibilities that come with the position. It is clear that the task of managing a country as diverse and complex as ours cannot be shouldered by a single individual alone. However, the President does play a crucial role in steering the nation towards the realization of its dreams.

If I had the honor of leading the Philippines as President, my foremost priority would be to address the most basic yet critical issue: the lack of discipline among our people and within the government itself. It is an undeniable dilemma that plagues our society and serves as the root cause of numerous predicaments in our daily lives. Instilling discipline from the ground up would undoubtedly have far-reaching, positive consequences that would benefit each and every Filipino. This is a long-term investment in our nation’s future. Furthermore, I firmly believe that a stronger and more accessible education system is essential for the development of the Philippines. Nelson Mandela once wisely remarked, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” I wholeheartedly embrace this sentiment and would strive to ensure that every Filipino has access to quality education. Literacy is the gateway to personal success and, more importantly, a means

for individuals to contribute to the progress of our country. Education shapes individuals, empowering them to become the best version of themselves. Concurrently, I recognize the urgent need to address our country’s employment requirements. It is imperative that our people have access to sufficient job opportunities, allowing them to sustain their livelihoods and contribute to our nation’s economy. Our greatest wealth lies in the skill and dedication of our workforce, and it is within our own borders that we must harness this potential. Rather than seeking employment abroad, we should prioritize creating opportunities at home, utilizing the talents and capabilities of our citizens. Moreover, I would seek to encourage and empower both local and foreign investments in the Philippines. Such investments hold the promise of boosting our financial system and propelling us to greater heights. They would not only invigorate our economy but also foster a spirit of

6
Anchored Angel

competitiveness among our business community. By fostering an environment that supports entrepreneurial initiatives, we can unleash the full potential of our businessmen.

Lastly, in order to solidify and achieve my vision for national development, I would wage a relentless battle against corruption. Corruption remains the foremost obstacle impeding our nation’s progress. The brazen acts of dishonesty perpetrated by corrupt government officials breed disillusionment and despair among our people. It is imperative that we put an end to these reprehensible practices and restore faith in our government. Only then can we pave the way for genuine progress and prosperity. Preserving our rich culture and abundant natural resources is also of utmost importance. We must find ways to utilize these invaluable assets efficiently and adapt them to our modern context without compromising their inherent value. One effective strategy would be to prioritize the promotion of tourism. By showcasing the hidden treasures of our nation, we can not only provide employment opportunities for our fellow man but also exhibit to the world the untapped wonders that lie within our borders.

In conclusion, these are the insights that emerge from contemplating the immense responsibility of serving as the President of the Philippines. As we restore faith in our government. However, it is vital to acknowledge that the reality of assuming such a position is a complex and arduous undertaking. As a nation, we must collectively strive to embody these ideals and work towards a future where our aspirations can be transformed into reality.

“All that remains is a question about the realism of being such”.

A Family Together, Lives Forever

It is a huge privilege for our dear Bulacan State University – Hagonoy Campus to receive and experience a wonderful seminar together with Bishop Jonel R. Milan, D. Div. a Life Coach and Family Counselor. It was held on March 24, 2023, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at the BULSU Hagonoy AVR. The theme of the seminar is “Responsableng Pagkalinga sa Pamilya, Daan Tungo sa Buhay na Kaaya-aya!”.

Bishop Jonel asked, “Who do you think are the real hope of our society? Is it the teenagers? Like what Dr. Jose Rizal said “Ang Kabataan ang Pag-asa ng Bayan” or the teachers? Bishop Jonel said, “Before teenagers become the hope of our society, the parents must be the first hope of our society. Why? because as parents, if we do not raise our children properly then they will become the problem of our society”.

The seminar goes with the deep discussion regarding how family is important in our life and how family affects our life. Bishop Jonel gives a Bible Verse which Joshua will narrate his subtests “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” -Joshua 24:15. As his accomplishment of being the leader, he gives

the key of the success which is the importance of family. In the end of our problems, in the end of everything we cannot disregard our family because in every battle that we experience, we have family that will help us and rely on us.

According to Bishop Jonel, ”It is not an accident that you belong to your family”, it means that we should not compare ourselves to others. Why? because we have our own beauty, we have our own talent and we have our own life.

“Every family has disharmony”, we should not be jealous in other family because every family has a problem that is why every people and every family should understand that we should appreciate our own family no matter how challenging it may be because God and His wisdom brought us to the family what we have.

“Opportunity”. In the family that you belong with, you have the opportunity to become our God’s instrument for you to become the instrument to make your family grow healthy. We all know that there is no perfect family, no perfect parent and no perfect child but opportunity will help us to cause a growth in our family.

“Help Keep Harmony in Our Respective Family”, it is the time that we should do our part in our family. You as a parent, you as a child and you as part of your family.

Bishop Jonel shares what FAMILY is. What are the words that are connected with our family and must be present in every family to become an instrument of

F- riendly atmosphere “…as for me and my household,...” (v. 15)

As Bishop Jonel said, husband and wife must be friends, husband and children must be friends, wife and children must be friends and siblings must be friends. It is one of the important keys of every family to save their family because nowadays a lot of children experience broken families because there is no friendly connection in their family. Friendship is the most foundation of family and it is the important thing to nurture with to have a strong family. Have you noticed that your children and you as a parent have a gap or space between you? Why? because there is no friendly relationship between you and your children. Besides being a parent, child and sibling, you should build a friendship in your family. There are things you do not know about your children because you do not have this kind of relationship

between you and your child. This is the part that we see the mistakes we have made. But, this is also the part we need to tell our mother, father, and siblings the beautiful things we see in them. All of us have a beautiful doing as an individual and as a member of the family we belong with. All of us must open our eyes to be affirming and to affirm each other because it is demonic doing that must be removed. As we continue affirming our family members, it is the time that we will see how wonderful our family is. Your mission is to start affirming culture because if you do good in your family, your family will do good too.

A-ffirming culture “... we will...” (v. 15)

In family, children are not expecting you to be perfect but they just want you to be authentic. If your children have an argument, you as a parent must be the facilitator. It is because it will guide and assist your children to learn for themselves.

8
God to fix our family and make every family grow.

If you have a problem with others then go to the person privately to avoid misunderstanding. Parents and siblings should express yourselves to mold your family. Problems are normal in a family but if you do not talk about it, it will affect your family. At the end of the conflict and problem, in the end, your family is your family no matter what happened.

I-nspiring everyone

Every day, many people sleep in hunger but most people sleep in thirst of love with their family. Many of us experience words that wounds our heart in our own family. It is the words that we will carry in our entire life.

Family should inspire each other, support each other, love each other and encourage each other. Family is the most important thing in our life and family is the greatest thing we have. Every family has their own support system where they know what is the best thing for them. According to Bishop Jonel, “From now on, you are not allowed a.day to pass without intentionally inspiring one another in the family”.

Lobbying/ Family Conference

It is one of the most important parts of every family that must do. It is the time where every family member can share their feelings and what happened to

them in everyday life to know what your family member is experiencing in their life. Conferences are the way to talk about something in the family. Everyone has their own right to talk. It is a way to unload the feelings of everyone to heal the pain that they have. Sharing with family is a comforting way. Family is the most important to be the safe space for every child to open up with their problems. Family must be the number one ear of every family child, mother and father. Family Conference will help every family especially their children to avoid becoming rebel. Also, it is a way to have a deep connection with your family.

Now, do you realize the importance of family? Do you want to make our world good? Then take the opportunity to connect, secure and fix every person that belongs in your family. Grab the chance to become God’s instrument of blessing to your own family because if you do it, you have made a great contribution to this world.

Yielding to God’s order “as for me…” (v. 15) Did you know how Jesus loved us? As Bishop Jonel talks, he said that Jesus sacrificed his own life for us. Real leadership is servant leadership, wherein we can see what and how is the life of a person. Every child must know how to follow your parents if it is not against God’s word but if your parents rules are against God’s words then you have the right to refuse it. You as a parent, do not tolerate your children and train them up. As the child of the family, you must honor your mother and father in your entire life with respect. Honoring your mother and father is the first commandment of promise. If you honor and respect your parents you will receive three promises: long life; success in life; and joy in life.

The World is like a Rainbow

“This world would be a whole lot better if we just made an effort to be less horrible to one another.” Ellen Page said.

The two amazing guest speakers, Ms. Krizza Andrea M. Garcia, LPT, RPm, and Mr. Jommel P. Roque, LPT, RPm, were invited by the hard-working students, from the Bachelor of Elementary Education 4A (BEEd 4A), who carried out the seminar in the Audio-Visual Room, which had the relevant theme “You Matter: Yearn to Overcome Unfairness of the Innovative World”, at Bulacan State University–Hagonoy Campus on Friday, April 14, 2023.

Ms. Krizza Andrea M. Garcia and Mr. Jommel P. Roque made the seminar moremeaningful and insightful for all students of Bulacan State University–Hagonoy Campus. This event was mostly attended

Ronnel L. Felipe

by the students from the Teacher Education Program.

The first speaker was Ms. Krizza Andrea M. Garcia.

The speaker pointed out the misconceptions regarding the “Gender and Mental Health”. She gave a brief introduction on this matter. After that, she proceeded to her main points. Eventually, she highlighted that there are a lot of factors that could affect changes of someone’s gender and mental health. She then ended her speech with the simple reminder, but powerful. That was “You matter!”.

The second speaker was Mr. Jommel P. Roque. The speaker focused on “Gender and Media: Portrayals, Stereotypes, and Influence”.

The speaker started with asking a simple question to several students about their ideal partners. And then, the speaker presented

statistics concerning with “It’s a girl thing or a boy thing”.

The speaker emphasized that stereotype ideas culturally influence whether a child acts normally or not when it comes to gender’s preference. The speaker ended the presentation with the great quote from Mathama Gandi who said that “Be the change you want to see in this world.”

All students, who joined the seminar, may never forget one thing that they learned. That was let us open our eyes to see uniqueness of everyone and appreciate them despite of having different colors because at the end of the day we are all human beings. “Let us make this world colorful with full of love and respect!”

Reserved

Place is defined, “a portion of space available or designated for or being used by someone” This is something that belongs to us, preoccupied, and we consider it as our own. We valued, we treasured, we cherished, or sometimes we devoted for. Many synonyms have been written but at the end we are the one who decided where our place belongs. Hide and seek, the game where we used to play when we were little. We find the safest place that no one will be able to find us for we always wanted to be the winner. Someone who is very difficult to find and when they seek you it becomes the end of an era. Finding your place is more challenging than seeking for someone else and losing the game is the finish line rather than starting over. Look upside down, left and right, where we are the most comfortable place to hide?

It seems like the reality of life is like this game, continuously seeking for a place where we used to hide. But the difference from now is no one is in-charge to seek you. We believe that we created a safe place for ourselves but the lies are on the top of it – the world created its own version of security, standards and even the dreams we build. Playing hard but losing easily, that is how the game works for us. Is it unfair or not?

I wonder how some are lucky enough to have everything they wanted, just like their dreams aligned to their destiny. Pretty good right? Many questions have been written one by one but when I look around, I find no answers to all the mysterious questions. I do not know how far it takes until I reach the seeking part of my hiding place. I am also confused about if the vacant space will become available for me? Another inquires, because if I find one, it turns into the same again not for responses but a disappointment. How responsible I became and how careless it becomes. Same rhyme but not in similar outcome. So, even if the tears fall down no one will wipe it out for I am always the one who cares for myself and if my loved ones did that for me, it is a favor that is required to turn back. You know why? Nothing is besides you unless they are needing you.

They do not remember who you are but they only know you by your name and define it by their own definition. That is biased, but what can I do to change their perspective? Freedom is freely given, hold it tight it is yours. Undefined self, a name that is just plain and simple. The ending part is not too good enough to see its worth. Unknown, underrated, and unplaced… Too many un cause what I wanted is an understanding of a deeper version of the world and what is truly mine. My thoughts are always deeper to the point that I ended up drowning. I hate myself for being this one. For I am being so kind to others but forgetting to look for my own place, to seek for them and being unable to remember to find myself. To always reserve a space for them that they also overlook it is already mine. I gave everything for the sake of knowing, for the name of winning but then I lost. In truth, I do not have my own safe space or a place I can call my own. They say it is synonymous with the word ‘home’ but now, I question myself, where is my home? How many anonymous places I will go to find where I truly belong even how long it takes to make it available for me? I hope there is a VIP room where some seats have already been reserved for me…

TO ALL THE SYNONYMS OF BEING TIRED

Are you trying to close your eyes just for a second then suddenly, all the lies come out in your mind? It just normally pops up when we are afraid about what will happen next in our tomorrows. All uncertainties have everywhere and we cannot hide from it but either we face it or to escape. When I was a little kid, I see the world as a big magical city where everything you wanted should be granted. It is full of sweet candies, a fairytales stories, a magic one, and a happy ending. I cried a lot when my mom said no because I thought that all things are meant When I was a little kid, I see the world as a big magical city where everything you wanted should be granted. It is full of sweet candies, a fairytales stories, a magic one, and a happy ending. I cried a lot when my mom said no because I thought that all things are meant for me. No demands, no hesitation, and no rejection nor the no’s answers. I pretend living in my most princess way I can imagined.

Maybe because our life is not complicated when we were young. Apparently, we are too happy about the simple things in life. In just a little candy, in all colorful ribbon, and on the simplest game either we lose or win what matter most is after all we enjoyed the season. Then, when we come back home, we don’t worry about tomorrow because we believe that another day is beautiful and again, it is become magical as it was be. As I turned into this realization, what happened? The world I thought is now crashing down – it become huge, crowded, and full of troubles. What I see today it is not magical city nor fairytale one because what I been through is feel like; I’m in a big ocean and the waves keep me drowning until I die and when I ask for help no one is there for me, no one, only myself. I didn’t know how to survive but as the waves continued to pull me off, I learned how to follow the waves, the flow until at those days, I came to the shoreline

of the sea not having a help but only by myself. For wanting to live more, I endured the dying part – fighting for what it meant for me. I just want to see what is waiting at the end of my journey so I become stronger, wiser, and bolder. Because as I believed there are so many different kinds of waves but it will never be the same wave twice. And if we are willing to follow or control it surely, we can assure our tomorrow. The road to the final destination never comes easy, just like how this life is going on. Always on trouble, on challenging part, on high standard expectation, to all frustrating disappointment, and for all the trial and error. What we gained from it? A burden, exhaustion, anxiety, or more pressure... Is it what we call a recipe for success?

It’s kinda tiring – I’m exhausted and to all synonyms of being tired, I’m sick of it. I wanted to earn something without proving to anybody my real identity. I wish it is possible to escape just for a moment then forgetting

everything that was happening around us. I wanted to be unknown, more of being lowkey, more of being myself. I hate having all the norms that need to be bit by my generation. I wanted to eliminate all the qualifications of this world for this trophy of the definition for what you called real success. All I wanted is to be something in this world. Now I am not the same person anymore, the girl who used to believe in the magical world is the girl who is on death row today, having all the confusion of going right or turning left for the worst to back out and return home. And if you will ask me today who I am? I do not know the exact answer, it is still unidentified But believe me or not something will make you broken and some of it will make you whole again. Maybe I made a lot of mistakes and in some way, I want to figure it out or know a little from it but what is the best part of it? I get to have the opportunity to know what’s real in my life, who’s gonna be there

11

for me and who’s not. And in all those complaints, I wanna see it from behind tell them all the lies and I hope, I can be honest, we can be honest so that no heartaches will cause damages in half of our beings. As I open my eyes every morning, I see the big world waiting for me. No turning back, no more hiding,

no more tiring part, and most especially no more complaining. Thinking how others want the life I have, even though they do not know what I’m going through they still see my life as precious as it is worthy to be lived. Maybe, this is my fairy tale where the happy ending is the story that has not yet finished. And to have a fulfilling life

Law (-ful/-less)

How proud of you, Boasting pleasing blue; Creasing with bloated fact, Collecting jars with violated pact.

Once was I archipelagic, Never knew I’ll be climactic; For those ruling me, Disgusting and plastic.

Many missions on a list, With parts without a tick; Now, I want to pick, Parts without duty are sick.

Dearest me, When will you be, The greatest you can ever see?

With this buzzing bee, I would love me, To stand and never flee.

Conflicts were rich, While the rich with beach, Continues to breach. The poorest I gather, Proceeds to father, The one who’s not my partner.

Please, allow. My plea to follow, Your unity and power; As my parts sorrow, With sadness and terror.

Asking anyone Was tormenting and done; My voice won’t suffice If this continues to arise.

Powerless I have become Without abled to come; My parts are clueless, Pained and lifeless.

Law, in my becoming, I’m always questioning, Are you -ful or -less?

it needs a lot more courage and a passionate heart to do what makes us fulfilled. Tomorrow is not promise and this is the reality that life is full of uncertain things and changes will remain constant so for all this exhaustion of complaining I want to see myself not only living for survival but also seeing myself on the bright

side of mine where I can strive with doing the things that make me excited about without lying but being brutally honest.

Dear You

Have you ever been to my revered country?

Where Asia’s pearl of the orient lays

Where archipelagic islands are found Islands that deeply flow into our hearts

Touching our lives and breezing into our warmth

In Las Filipinas, everyone can be a hero. Some are fighting in silent battles, Some are choosing lamentation and rage. Either way, they are all thriving in this world full of chaos.

Conquering every fear and choosing to speak and stand up for themselves.

Yes, that is the only way through!

We will not be silent anymore. Each of us owes the deepest gratitude to those heroes, for shedding their blood and sweat. They have rekindled the light of freedom.

Finally, now, there is no need to run, fear, or struggle anymore.

It is indeed incredible, the urge to protect. The blazing heart that keeps on flaming the fire The eagerness to have a sense of initiative to serve the nation It feels surreal. Feeling the warmth for your dearest one Ironic how we can do everything to protect the nation without even recognizing our safety

Indeed, this is unconditional. Have you ever felt this way?

Do you long for something deeper, as I do?

Perhaps, that’s how it has been ever since The sense of becoming a Filipino will always remain at the bottom of our hypothalamus.

Tons of words are bursting into my mind Seizing to express my deepest admiration, My strong desire to become a proud Pinoy The urge to become resilient, amidst the storm

The sense of being

hospitable despite inflation and poverty

Filipinos will always be remarkable in every possible way they can be. This is only just the beginning,

Brace yourselves for an upcoming change Pinoy will always be Pinoy This does not end here.

Wicked

Jared Mateo

Allow yourself to suspend your disbelief. Are you taking notes?

If you blink, you might miss their deception and tricks.

Speak up, do not wait for anyone else. Do not wait for anyone to say it for you, Say it for yourself.

What if they are the wicked dressed as a God?

Would you open your eyes?

It was a long battle of grief, denial, and rage;

Generations passed, but we continue to dance gracefully in the palm of their hands,

What great puppeteer they are, controlling every scene.

Hopelessness and helplessness.

We build castles in the air, Still, we rise to protect what we have, The undying passion for the country and its people.

Patuloy parin narito’t nabubuhay.

Hanggang kailan ang ganitong klaseng kuwento?

Paulit-ulit na lamang ang nakatala sa libro.

Luhang Itim

Ang bawat butil ng luha. May lungkot at galak, Itim na guhit ang tumatak

Sa blankong papel na kabitak-bitak. Ang mantsa na kumalat

Kamay na may Imahinasyong taglay;

Nailathala ng luha, Damdaming nagluluksa sa tuwa, Ang mga katagang nalikha, Ay hi di ginamit an ng dila.
