The New Digital Era
DIGITAL AND KINETIC DESIGN
Newhouse III was built during the height of technological advancements and completed just 3 months after the release of the first iPhone. The lead designer Tomas Rossant mentioned wanting the design to feel high-tech and digital.
The glass skin of the building was made to selfshade according to changes in sunlight, creating a kinetic design that makes the building appear “alive.”
This building speaks to the new digital era and captures the movement in its high-tech and advanced design.

PROJECT FOCUS
Connectedness between Newhouse III and the other Newhouse schools.
Connectedness between Newhouse III and users of its space.
The impact of the digital era on the design of Newhouse III and how the movement influenced its connectedness.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Ultimately, the design of Newhouse III negates its purpose as a connector, acting solely as a neighboring building, rather than an extension of Newhouse I and II.
