MESSAGE FROM THE OWNERS

On behalf of the ownership group of your new hometown team, we are thrilled to be a part of the North Platte and Lincoln County community! Since we announced the team in late 2021, the amazing response and support we’ve received has been astounding Since day one, you have embraced us and encouraged us, and we appreciate the love and motivation you’ve brought to us.

In Year Two, you’ll find changes to Historic Bill Wood Field, made to provide our great fans a variety of entertainment, comfort and enjoyment. These changes are being made with the help and support of the City of North Platte and our great partners with the American Legion Post 163 First Nationals. From the first day we began discussions last fall about working together, both the City and Post 163 have been supportive and positive –they “get it” about what the Plainsmen plan to bring to our community. And what is it exactly we plan? First off, fun! Our only job is to entertain you, whether it’s on the field or off You’ll see six planned fireworks shows, giveaways, a special visit from the U.S. Military AllStar baseball team, and more – and we’re just getting started! For now, please enjoy Year One of Plainsmen Baseball, and please feel free to reach out with ideas and suggestions – after all, we are here to entertain you! We thank you for giving us this opportunity and we don’t take it for granted – we know you can spend your entertainment dollar anywhere and we are thankful that you chose the Plainsmen. Chuck Heeman

Bringing more than 25 years of experience working within the professional sports industry, North Platte Plainsmen Operator, Chuck Heeman, along with his wife, Mayra, are excited to bring North Platte their newest hometown team.

+ WORKED WITH THE CLEVELAND INDIANS AND CINCINNATI REDS AT THEIR GOODYEAR, AZ SPRING TRAINING COMPLEX

Chuck is a graduate of Arizona State University, a 13-year former U.S. Postal Service worker, and disabled veteran of the U S Air Force He was born in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He and his wife, Mayra Heeman, reside in Gering, Nebraska, and have four children and six grandchildren

Mayra Heeman

Wife and retired mother of four, Mayra Heeman, alongside her husband, Chuck, are excited to bring their passion for athletics and their community to North Platte this summer Mayra is an integral part of the Plainsmen team, helping to recruit and assist Host Families, along with managing the team's social media outlets and assisting with business operations. Mayra's duties with the Plainsmen include overseeing our host family program and assisting all staff in sales, game management and player placement.

Without our beloved interns, the Plainsmen could not do what we do every summer. These college students come to North Platte from all over the United States to learn the business of Sports Management and we are grateful to have them with us this summer!

Here are our interns for the 2023 summer season!

SOCIAL MEDIA

FRANKIE ENNA I SOCIAL MEDIA/PHOTOGRAPHY

Frankie is a Junior at Missouri Southern State University located in Joplin Missouri. Prior to her work in photography/social media work, she was a college volleyball athlete first at South Dakota State University then transferred to play volleyball at Missouri Southern. Frankie started her photography career by doing freelance in her free time. Once she stopped playing volleyball, that’s when she went full time with photography at Missouri Southern She is a student photographer for the athletics marketing department, and takes pictures for all the athletics teams at the university. She also takes pictures and create graphics for the University newspaper/magazine. Frankie is a public relations major and a minor in graphic design She hopes to gain more experience and have a future in sports photography/social media. Frankie is originally from Kansas City, Missouri. Outside of photography she enjoys spending time with family and friends.

PLAY-BY-PLAY & LIVE-STREAM

TOBIAH ZBORAY I PLAY-BY-PLAY BROADCASTING

Tobiah Zboray will be joining the Plainsmen as the Play-byPlay broadcaster for the 2023 season. Tobiah is from Surry, Maine, and is currently in his sophomore year at Ithaca College, where he intends to major in Sports Media. At Ithaca College, Tobiah does broadcast work for the Bomber Radio Network, Ithaca College’s student radio station. His work for the Bomber Radio Network has included doing Play-by-Play for multiple sports including baseball, softball, football, soccer, field hockey, volleyball, and lacrosse. Tobiah also produces a show on Ithaca College Television, the college’s television network. He also writes articles for The Ithacan, the student-led newspaper, covering Ithaca College Athletics.

When not covering Ithaca Athletics, Tobiah enjoys spending his time outdoors, hiking, canoeing, reading, and doing photography Tobiah likes to spend his time with friends and family when not working Tobiah is excited to join the team in North Platte, and can’t wait for the season to start.

Daniel Castagna from Seabrook, Texas is a freshman at the University of Texas at Arlington pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Broadcasting. He is an all-around sports fan and watches sports when he has the opportunity. His previous experience as a crew member for C3 Studios, a football live production crew, has impacted him greatly. He is a student worker for the Maverick Athletic Department working the broadcast and live stream athletic events He chose the broadcasting industry because of how impactful it is and how special it can be

He is thrilled to join the Plainsmen team this summer. He hopes he can impact and inspire everyone who watches the live stream. He hopes he can help and elevate the brand of the Plainsmen and North Platte. When not working, he volunteers in the community, watches TV/Movies, and takes photos.

DANIEL CASTAGNA I LIVE STREAM OPERATOR

BASEBALL OPERATIONS

Levi is a Sport Management major & Athletic Coaching minor at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, OH. At BW he is involved in the Sport Management Club, Coaching Excellence Club, as well as a member of the Marching Band Within the business of sport Levi has worked for the BW Athletic Communications department (NCAA Division III) in sport statistics and event management. Further experience includes Berea-Midpark Athletics Intern, Cleveland Browns Guest Services Representative, 2021 NFL Draft, 2022 NBA AllStar Weekend, 2021-22 OHSAA Football State Championships, and the 2022 NCAA Final Four. With the North Platte Plainsmen Levi will assist the full-time staff with the management of Pre game set-up, player checkins, team travel logistics, and serve as the official scorer and scoreboard operator during athletic contests.

Faith is from Denver, Colorado originally and is in her senior year at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, where she is the Director of Operations for the Islanders Baseball program. Faith has worked with the Islanders Baseball team since the fall of 2018 and is responsible for operational aspects of the program, including travel, meals, accommodations, and more. She also spent this past summer with the Los Angeles AAA team, the Salt Lake Bees as a Hawkeye operator Baseball has played a huge part in Faith’s life and career so far, and she looks forward to being able to take her experience and love for the game and work with the Plainsmen in 2023.

Corey is a Junior at Tiffin University in Ohio pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration in Sports Management. Corey is also on the Cross Country and Track and Field teams at Tiffin University as well. Corey is going to be a Marketing and Promotions Intern for the plainsmen this summer.

Prior to being a student at Tiffin University, Corey comes from Marshall, Texas where he was born and raised. Corey’s favorite baseball player is Edwin Diaz and Corey is a big fan of Edwin’s amazing on field introductions.

Olivia Deeds grew up in a little town called Centreville, MI. She is currently attending Adrian College and studying Sports Management and Communications. She grew up watching and playing sports her whole life! She has committed to Adrian College to play basketball, but an unexpected injury occurred during her Sophomore year and decided it would be in her best interest to focus on her degree and future career in Sports Management for her remaining time at college.

Olivia is currently employed at Dunhams Sporting Goods and is also an intern for the Sports Information Director at Adrian College. In her free time, she enjoys working out, eating good food, watching any sport, and hanging with friends. She love meeting new people and going on adventures.

NICOLE KERR I MARKETING & PROMOTIONS

Nicole is a recent graduate from Hofstra University in Long Island, NY with her BA in Political Science and a double minor in Leadership Studies and Public Relations. She will be returning to Hofstra this fall to earn her MBA in Management. Nicole's passions lie in creating memories and spreading joy. Many of her best memories came from playing sports and attending games, so she wants to help create those experiences for other fans.

Nicole grew up in Diamond Bar, California, where she played softball for six years and managed the student staffing at all the high school games This experience ignited her passion for events and sports At Hofstra, Nicole worked as a campus tour guide and served as the president of the Residence Hall Association She loves to travel, read, and scrapbook in her free time Nicole is super excited to work with the Plainsmen to create memories for the fans and to begin her career in sports!

STADIUM OPERATIONS

SAGE CRANE I STADIUM OPERATIONS

Sage is a Sophomore at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She was born and raised in Joplin, MO where she grew up watching sports, but played volleyball most of her life. She's currently employed at Chick-fil-a and Roderique Insurance Agency but has spent many summers in her past working and watching baseball tournaments. In her free time, I enjoy reading, shopping, working out, or hanging with friends. Sage is a big coffee fan and loves traveling to new places She chose to be a hospitality intern because she love serving others, meeting new people, and wants to further her experience within her field of study She's thankful for this opportunity and can’t wait to see what the 2023 season holds!

Jared Jones | Team Head Coach

Jones currently serves as the Hitting Coach and Director of Player Development for Highland Community College in Highland, Kansas, where he enters his second season on the baseball staff. He played at Dakota Wesleyan University to finish his playing career, after time with Central Christian College (Kansas).

A native of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jones spent the summers of 2021 and 2022 coaching in the Cornbelt Summer Collegiate League, based in Omaha, Nebraska, where he served as Head Coach of the Omaha Crop Dusters.

Jones earned a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from Central Christian College and a Masters in Educational Policy from Dakota Wesleyan University

Tyler Oberlander i athletic Trainer

Tyler Oberlander is the Lead athletic trainer at Great Plains Health Sports & Therapy. He founded the Great Plains Health Rodeo Sports Medicine Team in 2015, providing sports medicine coverage at high school, amateur, college, and professional rodeos. The Great Plains Health Sports Medicine Team provides coverage for 30-40 rodeos yearly. In 2018, Tyler was named Director of Sports Medicine for both the Nebraska High School Rodeo Association and the Indian National Finals Rodeo. Great Plains Health Sports & Therapy provides outreach sports medicine coverage to 16 high schools, North Platte Post 163 baseball, and North Platte Community College.

Tyler has a bachelor’s degree in athletic training and a master’s degree in sports administration from South Dakota State He is Program Manager for the Justin Sportsmedicine Team, the official healthcare provider of the PRCA and travels across the United States covering professional rodeo. He originally grew up in Elm Springs, SD where he still helps on the family farm Tyler currently lives in Hershey, NE where he enjoys committing time to the Hershey Volunteer Fire Department as a Firefighter/EMT and spending time with his girlfriend Tanner and dog Jack
