Scotland has 4 large Film and High End TV suitable studios, Pioneer Film Studios is not only the Largest (by double the nearest competitor), but we’re also the closest for crew. 75% of which are based in Glasgow, making our Stepps location very desirable. Pioneer is the only film campus in Scotland which has space and desire to create a community of film businesses, adopting the Pinewood model – to have the supply chain based on site, making this the best place for productions to work in Scotland. Studio Spaces

All of our studio spaces have at least 10m (30 foot) Height Clearance, with our largest single stage standing at 30,000 ft sq, and 6 others all measuring 16,000 ft sq each. With 2,000 amps of power and plenty of good access points.

In 2023 we were delighted to join Netflix & Entertainment partners as sponsors of the Production Guilds nations and regions program in Scotland. Our Director Jamie McCoy was asked to join the Committee in an effort to support the growth of the Scottish industry and increasing awareness of the supply chain, crew availability, locations and facilities across Scotland to Productions across the UK and beyond.

Office Space

On site we have over 110,000 ft sq of office space across our 9 floor main tower building, as well as in-unit offices across some of our more dynamic spaces allowing productions to work close to the action.

Screen Facilities Scotland

Screen Facilities Scotland is a member organisation made up of companies who form the full film supply chain in Scotland. Pioneer is the HQ for this group and supports the growth of the community.

Facilities by ADF & Location One

Facilites by ADF completed the acquisition of Location One in late 2022. Marking their continued growth and dominance in the UK market. Expanding into Scotland both ADF and Location One have selected Pioneer as their home in Scotland.

Panalux (a Panavision company)

With locations across the UK, Central Europe, and South Africa, Panalux delivers creative lighting solutions to features, series commercials, live events and more globally. We are delighted to have Panalux join us on site.

Supply2Location

Whether it’s a single day ad or multi million blockbuster, Supply 2 Location pride themselves on providing all the products and production requires. As one of the leading companies in the field we are lukcy to have S2L on site at Pioneer.

Props & Workshop

Across our single height workshop and ancillary units we have over 100,000 ft sq hybrid space consisting of open span warehousing, 7m height props / workshop areas, two floors of small to large offices (unit 3) & multiple roller shutter access points into each individual unit. Located directly across the lane to the rear of Stages 4-9 access into build space for productions has never been easier.

At Pioneer we don’t dictate to productions what the use of any space should me. Every production is different and the spaces here are yours to use however you need, get creative.

Hybrid Space Warehouse 12

Marked for demolition before we took over, this space was uninhabited for over 15 years. Originally the bottling plant at the heart of the Buchanan whisky machine, we have breathed new life into this space creating 4,000 ft sq of mixed office space, 25,000 ft sq of hybrid anciallry / buildspace, 5,000 ft sq of 6m height ancillary space popular with construction & props depts and a further 18,000 ft sq split over two levels of single level office space with a range of uses.

As a bottling hall originally, this space benefits from a serated glass ceiling, flooding the areas with unbeatable natural light. Making this a favourite with construction, art and constume depts alike.

Stages 4-9

Buildspace

Stages 4-9 offer unrivalled build space in Scotland. Each studio stands at 16,000 ft sq with height span of 10m rising to 12m at the peak.

Originally used for storing Black and White whisky for James Buchanan, these bonded warehouses have thick brick walls, clearspan build space and full roller shutter access from several points into each stage.

All 6 units will be online and available to productions from Q2 2024, adding 96,000 ft sq of additional studio space on site bringing our total to 126,000 ft sq across the 7 stages. All stages qualify for Film and HETV requirements as outlined by Saffrey Champness (30ft height clearance) and makes Pioneer the only studio in Scotland that can accomodate multiple productions at once. Meaning just because we’re booked, doesn’t mean we’re full.

Build Space Stage 11

Studio 11 is our 30,000ft2 studio whichbenefits from 11,000ft2 surrounding ancillary spaces. These ancillary areas split over 4 rooms provide convenient on areas for productions. 4 x 4m high roller shutter doors provide access to studio areas. 2000KvA grid capacity for equipment is available from local DB’s.

As well as lots of power, space, access and supporting ancillary space, Stage 11 has 64 individual roof loading points spread evenly across the entire floor in 5m intervals. Each point is independently weight rated to hold a load of up to 350kg.

Responsible for everything from our online presence to our marketing initiatives designed to build lasting relationships and make some noise in the industry. Jamie has spent over a decade as one of the leading marketers in the UK running global campaigns for Google, Dell, Microsoft, amongst a list of household name Enterprises.

Our team dream big and we’re lucky to have Faye anchoring the figures and enabling the entire business to function freely – which is crucial when you’re launching something like a 1.1million ft2 studio campus. Faye owned and built Oak Accountancy, a successful Scottish based accountancy practice.

As a career commercial construction expect, Michael spec’s, manages and delivers our full program of remediations, ongoing projects & maintenance and enables us to be the most dynamic studio space for productions in the UK. Allowing us to fit out our spaces at cost. A unique competitive advantage.
