Purported Repeated Escape of Wolfdogs in Southampton Twp. Leads to Fury, Anguish While One of The Owners Hung Up When Telephoned By This Newspaper, Town Says Animals ‘Have to Be Surrendered’ By Douglas D. Melegari Staff Writer
SOUTHAMPTON—Reports of a pack of “wolfdogs” that belong to a Southampton Township couple residing on New Road that are said to have repeatedly gotten loose over a several week period, and allegations that the animals killed both local livestock and pets when they escaped, has led to a number of anguished, furious and somewhat “terrorized” area residents calling on various local governmental agencies to seize the animals from what they allege are “very irresponsible” dog owners. Seemingly contributing to the fear of these wolfdogs are Facebook postings from one of the purported owners herself, Rebecca “Shugs,” who not only posted what some have found to be an intimidating shot of some of the wolfdogs standing on a raised platform in a backyard, watching after what appears to be a puppy, but another that suggests that after the wolfdogs were treated to “presents,” or kiddie pools, they proceeded to “break-in and destroy the house while gone for only a short amount of time,” with an accompanying picture showing markings of some sort on a kitchen stove. “Criminals,” Shugs wrote. “Absolute criminals.” Then, after a commenter suggested that perhaps the dogs were just “hungry,” Shugs replied, “Ohhh it was sooooo much worse than
