HERITAGE Historic items have been retained from the Australian Fine China Factory and will be displayed within Viridian China Green to capture the historic charm of the ceramics factory. This includes a reconstructed portion of the Calyx Building, the Edge-runner Mill and the Jaw Crusher in cohesion with artwork by Stuart Green which reflects the various processes of the former factory. Jaw Crusher The Jaw crusher was originally located on the southern side of the clay storage area under a skillion roof, adjacent to the Edge-runner Mill. It was used for crushing felspar (part of the glaze materials). The machine has been cleaned and repainted ready for display at Viridian. Edge-runner Mill Originally located on the southern side of the clay storage area under a skillion roof, adjacent to the Jaw Crusher. The Edge-runner Mill was used for finer grinding of feldspar before lifting up the to the mill house. The restored edge-runner mill stands on steel feet and has been cleaned and repainted. Reconstructed wall of the Calyx Building The reconstructed portion of the Calyx Porcelain Works building is a significant reminder of the long period of operation of the china factory on this site. A portion of the reconstructed wall is situated on the Viridian site and the other portion on the adjacent site. The reconstructed wall elements of the original Calyx Porcelain Works Building allow the original footprint of the building to be appreciated.
