What is meant by Homam and what is its significance?

What is a Homam Homam or havan is a sacred ritual of Hinduism. It is performed by qualified Hindu priests. Homa can be defined is a process of invoking a sacred fire with intentions of getting peace or other good things. The fire of the homa kund symbolises God. During the homa people offer grains, fruits, ghee, herbs and many other sacred things to it as symbolic offerings to God. It is believed that performing Homam as per the Vedic rituals will bring positive vibrations and blessings to a person and help him succeed in life. History of Homam Homa traditions are found all across Asia and have a over a 3000-year history. The homa tradition signifies the reverence for fire and cooked food. The yajna or fire sacrifice became a distinct feature of the early śruti rituals.
