OUR APPROACH
At Pilgrim School, the unique qualities of every student are at the heart of what we do. We are committed to fostering an environment where every student is known, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential. Every student has a unique learning style, strengths, and challenges that require individualized support to thrive; making personal attention crucial for a student’s academic and social-emotional development.
Small class sizes, dedicated faculty, and individualized mastery-based learning strategies ensure that each student receives the support and challenge they need at every stage of their academic journey. Teachers tailor instruction to meet the needs of their students, offering extra support where needed or providing advanced materials to challenge those who are excelling.
SECONDARY SCHOOL
Pilgrim School, established in 1958, is a college preparatory institution located in Koreatown, Los Angeles.
We are committed to nurturing an inclusive community that serves students aged 18 months through 12th grade. Our mission is to inspire and challenge students to better themselves and the world around them.

COLLEGE PLANNING
College planning at Pilgrim is a personalized, student-centered process focused on helping students identify individual goals and pathways to achieve them. College planning is not simply limited to selecting suitable colleges; the emphasis is placed on finding purpose and preparing each individual for their future.
Throughout their four years in high school, students work with our dedicated Director of College Planning to explore, reflect on, and engage with who they are. By their senior year, our students are well-prepared to pursue their ideal college fit, based on their academic profile, aspirations, talents, and interests.
STUDENT EXPERIENCE
Pilgrim embraces the significance of providing students with opportunities to delve into passions and interests that extend beyond the academic curriculum. We offer an impressive array of course electives, clubs, and extracurricular activities designed to empower students to discover and nurture their unique talents while acquiring valuable new skills.
In addition to extensive course electives, our middle school and high school Associated Student Body offers students the chance to build leadership skills, serving as the official voice of the student body and communicating student opinions and concerns to the school administration and other stakeholders.
THE PILGRIM COMMUNITY
Pilgrim School is a close-knit, down-to-earth, and culturally diverse community where collaboration and mutual respect are at the heart. The school fosters an environment where families, faculty, and staff come together as essential parts of our community.
The Pilgrim Parent Association (PPA) hosts many events throughout the year that bring families together in support of the school, fostering lifelong connections with one another.

SECONDARY SCHOOL
PROGRAM
EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION
Each year, Pilgrim Secondary School students embark on grade-level trips that blend outdoor exploration, cultural immersion, and hands-on learning. These unforgettable experiences are more than just a tradition; they’re an exhilarating extension of the classroom designed to ignite independence, strengthen friendships, and deepen real-world understanding across a variety of subjects.
From outdoor activities such as surfing, camping, and hiking to historical explorations in Washington, DC to college visits across the United States, each grade has the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom and create memories of a lifetime.
VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS
The arts program at Pilgrim fosters individuality and encourages students to discover their creative voices while integrating cultural traditions, history, essential skills, and innovative technology. We believe that exposure to the arts can cultivate not only artists but also art lovers, supporters, and members of a community that values creativity. We offer courses in studio art, theater, filmmaking, dance and contemporary music ensemble.
Our Visiting Artists Program invites professionals in their respective fields to campus, offering students the chance to learn about their artistic philosophies, techniques, and experiences as working artists. These visiting artists engage with students for an extended period, collaborating with our visual art faculty to deepen their understanding of contemporary approaches to art-making.
COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING
Pilgrim School is proud to offer a comprehensive computer science and engineering program that engages students through collaborative projects and critical thinking. Our courses are designed to prepare students to be ethical problem solvers capable of addressing the complexities of our modern, globalized world. Through hands-on, project-based learning, students discover how computer science and engineering connect to real-world applications.
