THE 110TH ANNIVERSARY CONVENTION
by Andrew B. Golbert Lafayette, ‘65 Convention Co-Chairman
The 110th Anniversary Convention of Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity was held August 3-7, 2005 at the University of Florida in Gainesville. One hundred undergraduates and alumni from across the United States and Canada participated in this very successful event. And so, the Florida Delta Chapter rolled out the red carpet in true Southern hospitality to warmly welcome their Brothers. Their work on behalf of the gathering was truly appreciated! This year’s Convention Committee consisted of: Honorary Chairman, George A. Beck, H.B., University of Virginia; Co-Chair, Andy Golbert, C.K., Lafayette College; Vincent Marbury, C.K., Virginia Tech; Dave Fechtman, Florida Atlantic; Jon Borell, Eastern Washington; Gary Sanders, Shippensburg University; Joe Nascimento, Keith Kimmel, Anthony J. Salzman, C.K., Jeff Buhler, Josh Krehbiel, Kris Mehaffey, Nick Hansen, and Matt Seymour, University of Florida. In-depth educational sessions were held throughout the five-day convention, as well as various brotherhood activities and a local community service project. Additional highlights of convention included the Annual IEC and Alumni Sponsored Cook Out, the Undergraduate Awards Presentation, the International Executive Council Meeting, the House of Delegates Meeting and the Presidential Awards Banquet.

The Second Annual Cook Out was a fun time for alumni and undergrads. Helping to serve up the fun were Executive Chef Vin Marbury, C.K., VPI, Sous Chef Shawn Upchurch, Baldwin-Wallace, and Chefs de Cuisine Bob Lash (who was initiated an Honorary Brother during convention) and Tony Salzman, C.K., Florida University, Marc Weppner and Seth Bosecker, VPI, Paul Kaufman, C.K., Franklin and Marshall, and Mike LaBelle, FIT.

Each year, The House of Delegates Meeting is held to elect the coming year’s undergraduate Councilman as well as alumni Councilmen to serve terms on the IEC. This year’s undergraduate representative is Dan Krieg, Ferris State, and alumnus Mike LaBelle, FIT, who will serve on the International Executive Council. This meeting not only serves as an electoral vehicle, but also allows all participating brothers to learn and actively participate in the official processes of this governing body of the Fraternity.
