The Tocqueville Society Added Value to Your Membership Investment The Tocqueville Society is for those who want to create true, positive change at the highest level. Today, the local chapter, founded in 1992 by Dusty and Gary Loo, continues the legacy. Named after French historian Alexis de Tocqueville, it stands as one of the most prestigious and influential philanthropic affiliations. As a member you aren’t just invited to a growing number of exclusive events and opportunities – you also know that you stand with other leading philanthropists in creating hope for the entire Pikes Peak region. You know that your gift transforms communities.
Membership Guidelines Alexis de Tocqueville members are individuals who make an annual personal contribution of $10,000 or more through the Pikes Peak United Way’s Community Campaign, or individuals who donate $5,000 with secured matching corporate funding payable during the same period. Membership is concurrent with the campaign and all pledges are payable in full by December 31st of the year following the fall campaign. Pledges may be paid in cash, credit card, stock, payroll deduction, or the donor may request to be billed. Each contribution represents only one family unit. It must be a gift from a living member and should be from an individual’s personal resources or living family foundation. It is requested that designations be made at the time the pledge is given; however, Pikes Peak United Way will honor all designations made until the end of March. Following the campaign donors are encouraged, but not mandated, to give to health and human service agencies. Members who designate to agencies other than Pikes Peak United Way are requested to invest at least $1,000 of their gift with the Pikes Peak United Way Community Investment Fund. This program is promoted as an ongoing, continuous commitment to be re-solicited each campaign year, with donors being asked to fulfill their membership requirements on an annual basis.

Members of the Summit Society come from all walks of life, yet share two common traits: The rare spirit of caring and the power to make a meaningful impact on our community’s most pressing issues. They understand that giving at this level represents an investment in our community, where the returns are paid in a better quality of life for all.
Summit Membership Requirements Summit Society members are individuals who make an annual contribution of $1,000 to $9,999 through Pikes Peak United Way’s Community Campaign. Pledges are payable by December 31st of the year following the campaign and may be made in cash, credit card, stock, payroll deduction or the donor may request to be billed. Women’s Leadership The Tocqueville Society & Young Leaders Society Women’s Leadership The Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) is a network of philanthropic leaders dedicated to making a difference in the Pikes Peak region. Through WLC, women volunteer, network and develop professionally while advancing the common good by supporting lifelong learning.
Membership Requirements WLC members contribute to the Pikes Peak United Way at the Leadership Giving level of $1,000 or more annually. They are counted among a group of extraordinary women that come together to celebrate philanthropic leadership and advocate for lasting change in our communities.
Young Leaders Society YLS members are compassionate and committed individuals on a mission to encourage the spirit of philanthropy and volunteerism amongst their peers and to create a vibrant Pikes Peak region in which to live, learn, work and prosper. We encourage all of our active young leaders under 40 – who know how to combine community impact with exciting fundraising and networking events, to join this group .
Membership Requirements Young Leaders Society allows new members the opportunity to gradually increase their gift to the Leadership level of $1,000 or more a year by making a three-year step-up commitment to Pikes Peak United Way.
