Whether you are interested in learning a technical trade or if you are planning on transferring to a four-year university, we have a program of study that will fit your needs. We offer a comprehensive support system for active duty military, veterans and their family members by providing academic advising, benefits processing, application assistance, registration assistance, disability support services, and testing. Seven Easy Steps to Enroll 1. Apply for Admission Applying to Pikes Peak Community College is free. To begin the application process, go to the application page and follow the instructions. If you would like some assistance, you are always welcome to visit one of our offices - we are happy to help! 

2. Financial Aid Besides military Tuition Assistance (TA), you may be eligible for additional financial aid to defray some of the costs that are not covered by TA, such as textbooks and course fees. Getting help is easier than you think. The key is to get your paperwork in early. All it takes to apply for financial aid, including grants, loans, scholarships and student staff programs, is a single application form. The earlier you get your application in, the better your chances to be considered for all available sources of financial assistance. Get started today by connecting to our Financial Aid website. 3. Placement Testing This is the one test everybody aces. It's a quick evaluation of your basic skills in reading, English and math that helps your advisor, and you, know where your college education should start. If you have ACT or SAT scores, or if you have taken college classes before, you may not need a placement test. But to be on the safe side, contact the Department of Military and Veterans Programs at 719.502.4100, 1.888.645.7764. We offer placement testing at the military education centers as well as on campus, for hours of operation, please give us a call or check out our site locations pages at www.ppcc.edu/military.

4. In-State Residency 

Active duty service members and their family members who are not Colorado residents must provide a copy of their valid military ID showing Active Duty or Active Duty Dependent status to any of our Enrollment Services or Military & Veterans Programs Offices in order to receive instate tuition rates. Instate rates will apply through the semester in which your ID expires.

Veterans and their family members who are not Colorado residents may qualify for one year of instate residency after separation. If you have a Colorado driver’s license, the State of Colorado has put legislation in place that grants Honorably Discharged veterans and their family members one year of instate tuition after separation from service. 5. Apply for the College Opportunity Fund Active duty service members, veterans, and their family members residing in Colorado must apply for the College Opportunity Fund (COF). You likely already applied for COF when you completed the PPCC admissions application. The last question on the application asks if you would like PPCC to apply for COF on your behalf. If you did not authorize PPCC to set up your COF account on your behalf on the admission application, you can still apply at https://cof.college-assist.org/. Schedule Preface


6. Advising We can help you figure out your education and career goals, map them to the PPCC academic plan that fits you best, and help you choose your classes. Contact our military and veteran advisors to set up an appointment by calling 719.502.4100 or toll-free 1.888.645.7764, or by email at mvp@ppcc.edu. If you have credits you will be transferring to PPCC, order official transcripts to be sent to PPCC Enrollment Services: Transcripts, Box C8, 5675 S. Academy Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80906. Once you have completed six credit hours at PPCC, you may contact Rich Rayborn, our SOC/Credit for Prior Learning Evaluator, who will evaluate your military work experience, complete your Student Agreement and get you on your way to degree completion.

7. Registration and Tuition Assistance Your application is in, you’ve completed your placement test, and you’ve spoken to an advisor – what’s next? Registration! Here’s where you register for classes, set your schedule, and apply for Tuition Assistance or veterans benefits.

Registration: 

Go to the PPCC registration page and sign up for classes. There is a step by step registration guide included in this e-schedule as well.

Tuition Assistance: Per the Department Of Defense Memorandum Of Understanding, all Active Duty Tuition Assistance must be requested and approved prior to the start of term date for each course. Active duty military personnel must contact their servicing military education center as follows: 

Army – contact the Fort Carson Education Center Counselor to attend a College 101 Mandatory Briefing prior to setting up your GoArmyEd TA account. Call 719.526.9885 or 719.526.2124, or visit the Fort Carson Education Center, room 150.

Air Force – contact a Peterson Air Force Base Education Counselor and attend a Tuition Assistance briefing. Call 719.556.4996 or 719.556.7392, or visit the Peterson Air Force Base Education Center, room 106.

Navy – contact the Navy College Office for information by calling (local) 719.556.2179; (Comm) 1.877.838.1659; (DSN) 312.492.4684.

Marines – contact the Joint Education Center for information by calling (local) 719.554.5931; (Comm) 720.725.6660/6414; (DSN) 365.6660/6414.

Coast Guard – contact the Coast Guard Institute for information by calling (local) 719.554.0976.

Military and Veterans Programs can assist with some aspects of requesting TA. Veterans Benefits: All students using Veterans Benefits must submit a Certification Request Form. The form is online at https://www.ppcc.edu/services/veterans/forms/certification-request/. This is a mandatory step every semester for VA funding certification—or request certification for the entire academic year (summer, fall, spring). Students who have submitted a certification Request Form, along with all other required paperwork for eligibility, will not be dropped for non-payment. Additional Information Concerning VA Tuition Payment: In order to efficiently process your VA paperwork, our School Certifying Officials will submit your class schedule with zero tuition and fees. This is to ensure that beneficiaries who qualify for BAH or monthly payments (depending on chapter) will receive them in a timely manner. Once the drop period has ended, your schedule will be submitted to the federal VA benefits processing office complete with tuition and fees and the VA will determine, based on chapter, how tuition and fees will be paid. Please check with us if you have any questions. Additionally, you may receive a bill in the US mail from PPCC once the drop period has passed. Please do not ignore the bill, rather, make sure that it reflects your proper status as a resident of Colorado and that COF has been applied. Military Spouses--MyCareer Advancement Account (MyCAA): What is MyCAA? The MyCAA Scholarship provides a maximum education benefit of $4,000 with an annual fiscal year cap of $2,000 to assist eligible military spouses who need professional credentials to meet their portable career goals. Spouses of service members on active duty in pay grades E-1 to E-5, W-1 to W-2 and O-1 to O-2 who can start and complete their coursework while their military sponsor is on Title 10 military orders, including spouses married to members of the National Guard and Reserve Components in these same pay grades are eligible. What Will MyCAA Pay For? The MyCAA Scholarship pays tuition costs for education and training courses and examinations leading to an associate degree (excluding associate degrees in general studies, liberal arts and interdisciplinary studies that do not have a concentration). How Do I establish a MyCAA Account? Spouses can visit the MyCAA Spouse Portal online at https://aiportal.acc.af.mil/mycaa and provide the required Spouse Profile information. A real-time Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System eligibility check will confirm if spouses meet MyCAA eligibility requirements. Once confirmed, spouses can move forward and establish a MyCAA Account. Those who do not pass this check will be provided additional guidance. Who Can Help Me with MyCAA? MVP at Fort Carson provides support for spouses working with MyCAA, to include developing the very specific degree plan that you will be required to upload. Any class may use technology to enhance instruction and prepare students with 21 st century workforce skills. Register for Classes Go to the college registration website and log in 1 Go to MY.PPCC.EDU/Login. 2 Enter your user ID Use your Student Number (Sxxxxxxxx). 3 Enter your Password and Click Login The first time you log in, your PASSWORD will be the mmddyy of your birth date. The first time you log in, you will be required to change your PASSWORD from your birth date to ensure security. Keep your PASSWORD safe, available, and confidential. 4 Click on your Student Tab Under Registration Tools, click on Add or Drop Classes 5 Select Search Term 6 Select appropriate term. Click Submit. Look up classes by subject/days/times/etc. 1 Select Subject and click on a Course Subject you are interested in. To select multiple Course Subjects, hold down your Ctrl key and click on as many Course Subjects as desired. 2 Click Class Search and a listing of all courses will appear. NOTE: A number of other options are available for you to search on such as times, days, instructional method, etc., but you must always include SUBJECT in your search. Select classes/register and view schedules 1 Click in the open checkbox in front of the course CRN (Course Registration Number) you desire, scroll to the bottom of the page, click the Register button and the course will be added to your schedule 2 Current Schedule will appear. Verify that you registered for the correct course. You can continue to add or drop classes by repeating the class search function or You may choose to use the “Add to Worksheet� to develop a full schedule before finalizing and submitting for registration. To use the worksheet you will need to know the CRN for each desired course. 3 Return to menu (at the top left hand corner of the page) to view your detailed schedule, view/pay your bill, and to access your financial aid information. 4 Print a copy of your detailed schedule by using the browser print function on the top toolbar.
