When to register

Online registration for Piedmont residents begins on December 3 at 6:00 pm. Online registration for non-Piedmont residents begins on December 10 at 6:00 pm. Registration is required for all programs and activities . You are not considered registered until you have paid all fees and have received a confirmation

Photo Policy

PRD occasionally takes photos of department programs that may include enrolled participants Photos taken during programs, events or activities may be used in future department promotional materials If you do not want your child’s photo used, please contact the Recreation Department

Facility Preservation Fee (FPF) f

For each sports program sign-up with a fee of $50 or higher, a surcharge will be added to the program fee, to be deposited into a dedicated fund for preservation and replacement of athletic facilities or maintenance

Observance of Religious Holidays

PRD understands and respects the diverse religious beliefs of our participants and their families We recognize there may be occasions when individuals are unable to attend a PRD program or class due to the observance of a religious holiday . To request a credit due to a non-attendance, please email prd@piedmont ca gov Request must be made in writing at least five (5) business days in advance of the first program meeting Requests received after this deadline may not be considered

Withdrawals

All withdrawal requests must be submitted to PRD via email (prdrefunds@piedmont ca .gov) or phone (510) 420-3070 during office hours, Monday–Friday, 8:30 am–5:00 pm (excluding City holidays)

A request made:

■ 10 Business Days or More prior to the start of the program will receive a full refund or credit to account

■ Within 5–10 Business Days prior to the start of the program may receive a refund to the original form of payments, minus the convenience fee (3% for credit cards, 1% for echecks) or credit to account For an account credit, the amount credited will also be less the convenience fee . However it will not be charged again when the credit is used for a future registration of equal or lesser value

■ Less than 5 Business Days prior to the start of the program may be considered on a case by case basis and only permissible if the original program is over the minimum enrollment required Request must be approved by the instructor and PRD Staff If approved a refund or credit to account minus a 10% Class Withdrawal Fee

■ Late Withdrawal Requests after the start of a program will not be issued unless there is an exceptional situation and it is approved by the instructor and PRD staff A 10% Class Withdrawal Fee will be charged, the prorated amount for any classes attended, and any additional fees (if applicable: non-resident fee, Facility Preservation Fee) Instructors will need to approve the return of any material fees

Credit to account only, no refunds

Schoolmates and Preschool Programs have separate refund policies.

Cancellations may occur if a class minimum is not reached We reserve the right to either postpone the beginning of the program, or cancel the program and issue refunds to the original form of payment

Missed Classes will not receive a refund or credit

Class Transfers requests 10 business days or more prior to the start of the class are reviewed by PRD Staff and are only permissible if the original program is over the minimum enrollment Transfer must be to a program of equal or greater cost Transfer requests after PRD withdrawal window are not allowed unless approved by PRD staff .

Inclement Weather or Poor Air Quality may cause recreation activities to be canceled If rescheduling is not an option, a credit will be issued at the end of the program session

Piedmont is the beneficiary of many well-maintained, lovely outdoor spaces where many community members spend time with friends and family. Whether these areas are used for exercise, for play, or to socialize, these precious public spaces are vital to our community’s health and well-being.

In 2017, PBF established a Sports Field Endowment Fund to generate income to maintain and preserve the public fields and courts throughout Piedmont. These areas are used by children and adults of all ages nearly every day of the year. Piedmont Pop-Up Putt-Putt & Picnic in the Park

Sunday, April 27, 2025 | 12-4 pm Piedmont Park

Get your friends, family, neighbors, classmates, or coworkers together to create one of the novelty obstacle holes for the Pop-Up Putt-Putt course! Prizes will be awarded for Best Overall, Most Creative, Most Clever and Best Use of Recycled Materials.

The course with entries will be set-up in the Community Hall parking lot the morning of April 27th.

The Piedmont Pop-Up Putt-Putt Course will be open for the community to play a round from 12–4 pm. After you play, green and picnic in beautiful Piedmont Park! Check out the Mobile Golf Simulator sponsored by ACE Golf!

Tap into your natural creative talents with our advanced jewelry design class! Students will start by creating an Art Journal to document new techniques and ideas throughout the course From mastering the basics of crimping and bead stringing to delving into complex skills like simple wire work, children will learn to create a variety of earrings (clip-on and pierced) and charms With a huge selection of hot colors, unique textures, and quality materials like freshwater pearls and Czech glass beads, students will design customized jewelry pieces that reflect their personal style Our skilled instructors provide a fun, relaxed atmosphere where creativity blossoms and advanced skills flourish Join us to create stunning jewelry that goes beyond the basics and becomes wearable art! Beginning Sewing

A beginning sewing class where students have fun creating 'something from nothing! Students first sew a soft pillow using colorful fabric while learning basic hand stitches, techniques and sewing terms They learn what a running stitch is–a back stitch and a whip stitch! Class covers safe and proper use of needles, threads and scissors We go over sewing terms, patterns, types of fabrics, seams and more This is a small size class where instructor works individually with each student as they work along at their own pace

Sky’s the limit, it’s student’s choice A variety of craft projects will be taught Past projects for crafts weeks have been: resin pouring, light jars, mix media sculpture, marbleized paintings, lava lamps and fidget cubes On Wednesdays, we will start the day with a special snack the kids vote on Students have chosen to have nachos, pizza, garlic bread, muffins, cupcakes, ice cream sundaes and more . The Piedmont Recreation Department (PRD) is committed to meet the needs of the community by creating safe, fun and affordable inclusive programs for school-aged kids with neurodiverse needs. School year classes are thoughtfully designed to address various special needs including but not limited to the facilities chosen and inclusive curricula . Adaptive programs are modified to address the needs of neurodiverse students with a focus on providing enriching experiences .

PRD is offering more recreational opportunities for children with neurodiverse needs! Check-out the variety of afterschool and weekend programs, from sports to art to social groups Classes are designed to get kids moving, socializing and having fun with their peers! Our experienced instructors are each assisted by several trained Teen Sidekicks (ages 14+) .

Volunteer Opportunity for Teens this School Year

Teen Sidekicks are committed and enjoy working closely with neurodiverse students, befriending them, and helping them successfully integrate into mainstream games, activities and social opportunities

If you are interested in creating lasting memories and playing an integral role in supporting the growth and overall experience for a child with neurodiverse needs, fill out an application (rb .gy/fjzqb) . This unique experience is unlike any other and incredibly rewarding Afterschool and weekend volunteer opportunities are available during the school year and during the summer, Sidekicks runs week-long camp opportunities . The City of Piedmont Recreation Department will host the 4th annual Play Like a Girl+ Piedmont event on Sunday, May 4, 2025 Last year’s event encouraged approximately 800 girls+ to get involved in sports in a fun and supportive environment! More than 20 sports organizations from around the Bay Area will have hands-on activities for girls ages 2–18 to try From hockey to pickleball to rowing, there will truly be something for everyone! There will be live demonstrations, a sports raffle, an equipment swap hosted by Dress Best for Less and professional, Olympic and Paralympic athletes! Welcome our New Sports Coordinator & PMS Athletic Director, JoNae Gonzales!

JoNae is our first-ever female Athletic Director and graduate of Piedmont High School JoNae was a standout basketball player at PHS (2014), earning all-conference honors and four consecutive trips to the post-season

After high school, JoNae played collegiate basketball while obtaining an undergraduate degree, showcasing her skills and leadership on/ off the court She then pursued a Master’s Degree in England, continuing to excel in academics while playing professional basketball In addition to her playing career, JoNae has coached basketball at the college level and worked for National Academy of Athletics providing sports opportunities to the youth of the Bay Area With a passion for leadership and teamwork, JoNae continues to inspire others through her dedica tion to personal growth and community engage ment, but most importantly getting the younger generations involved in the athletic world

Play Like a Girl+ Piedmont

(Volunteers must be 12+)

Play Like a Girl+ Piedmont is an inspiring event aimed at empowering girls+ to play sports .
