Three ways to register

Online: Visit piedmont ca gov/activityguide You can register use Visa, Mastercard, Discover or eCheck with your username and password

Walk-in: Register in person Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm at the Recreation Depart ment, 358 Hillside Avenue, Piedmont .

By phone: Call the Recreation Department Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm at 510 4203070 Have your payment information ready

When to register

Online registration for Piedmont residents begins on December 6th at 9:00am. Online registration for non-Piedmont residents begins on December 13th at 9:00am. Registration is required for all programs and activities You are not consid ered registered until you have paid all fees and have received a confirmation

Withdrawals

All withdrawal requests must be submitted to PRD via email (prdrefunds@piedmont ca gov) or phone (510) 420-3070 during office hours, Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm (excluding City holidays)

A request made:

■ 10 Business Days or More prior to the start of the program will receive a full refund or credit to account

■ Within 5–10 Business Days prior to the start of the program may receive a refund to the original form of payments, minus the convenience fee (3% for credit cards, 1% for echecks) or credit to account . For an account credit, the amount credited will also be less the convenience fee However it will not be charged again when the credit is used for a future registration of equal or lesser value

Missed Classes

Refunds are not issued for missed classes

Class Transfers requests 5 business days or more prior to the start of the class are reviewed by PRD Staff and are only permis sible if the original program is over the min imum enrollment Transfer must be to a program of equal or greater cost Trans fer requests after PRD withdrawal window are not allowed unless approved by both the instructor and PRD staff

Inclement Weather or Smoke Days

If classes or recreation activities are canceled due to inclement weather or poor air quality, (and rescheduling is not an option) a credit will be issued at the end of the session

Cancellations

When the class minimum is not reached, we reserve the right to either postpone the begin ning of the program, or cancel the program and issue refunds

PRD occasionally takes photos of department programs that may include enrolled partici pants Photos taken during programs, events or activities may be used in future department promotional materials If you do not want your child’s photo used, please contact the Recreation Department

Facility Preservation Fee (FPF) f

For each sports program sign-up with a fee of $50 or higher, a surcharge will be added to the program fee, to be deposited into a dedicated fund for preservation and replacement of ath letic facilities or maintenance

The Piedmont Community Hall offers several unique areas with endless design options including a peaceful Japanese Tea Garden, an inviting patio and a rustic outdoor amphitheater.

The Piedmont Veterans Memorial Building offers a spacious struc ture with vintage hardwood floors and neutral walls that help you envision your perfect event.

Piedmont Recreation is now renting 801 Magnolia Avenue. This is a lovely and affordable space with a beautiful lobby and landscaped outdoor area.

Karin Linden has a diverse background from art to dog training to martial arts Karin stud ied Plein Air watercolor at UC Berkeley in her undergraduate Landscape Architecture degree .

After graduating, Karin took up Kajukenbo, the original mixed martial art from Hawaii During her initial five years of training, Karin assisted and ran self-defense classes She has attended several classes for self-defense instructors with Special Training, a yearly self-defense instructor workshop on the East Coast Karin currently trains at Oakland Kajukenbo with her two daughters

During the pandemic, Karin took up quilting, amassing quite the stash of fabric and took regular classes at Quilt Shows Karin has absorbed quilting techniques from several award-winning quilters including Pat Connolly, Mel Beach and Sarah Bond .

The Piedmont Recreation Department (PRD) is committed to meet the needs of the community by creating safe, fun and affordable inclusive programs for schoolaged kids with neurodiverse needs

Volunteer Opportunity for Teens: Teen Sidekicks

The Sidekicks program aims to provide children with exciting and social af ter-school programs to better strengthen their friendships while having a blast! Teen Sidekicks assist teachers with activities and support children interact with their peers, build relationships and strengthen their recreational skills

Teen Sidekicks are truly committed to helping children enjoy recreational activ ities and working closely with students with special needs Sidekicks are respon sible, punctual and enjoy working with children!

If you are interested in playing an integral role in supporting the growth and overall experience for a child with neuro diverse needs, please contact Eva Phalen, Recreation Supervisor Applicants must be 14 years of age . Experience working with elementary-aged children is a bonus but not required

Play Like a Girl+ Piedmont!

The City of Piedmont Recreation Department will host Play Like a Girl+ Piedmont! on Sunday, April 23rd . The event is aimed at getting girls+* in volved in sports in a fun and supportive environment! More than 20 sports organizations from around the Bay Area will have hands-on activities for girls+ ages 2-18 to try From hockey to long jump to rowing, there will truly be something for everyone! At this year’s event, there will be live demon strations, professional and Olympic athletes and fabulous raffle prizes!

The event is free, however advanced registration is preferred . Registration will open on March 15th This is not a drop-off event Parent participation is encouraged
