PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Handog: Thanksgiving & Appreciation night marks the quarter under review. Once again, another page of PICPA’s achievements was proudly presented by our dear President Marydith; recognizing and thanking the people behind her tenure, from her inner circles in the National Office to the Chapter Officers in the field.

As a prelude early on the day, the Chapter Presidents had a session with a top Philippines wellness coach on handling stress and positive attitude.

The event is a trademark model in the private sector. Honoring the employees every year-end for their contribution to the company. It was a departure presentation model from previous events I have seen in PICPA. Here, the Executive Officers sang with their raw singing talents guided by a small singing group. It was hilarious but more heartwarming because it came straight from their hearts at no additional expense from the association’s coffers.

The chapter got two (2) awards. The recognition as a PICPA Chapter that supports its Vision-Mission Statements and adherence to its core values and a special citation to the chapter president to its contribution to the E-journal of which my special thanks to the Assistant Secretary, VP Professional Devt. And the Secretariat for this project.

Three significant events stand out.

The election of officers was clearly a success, clean, honest, orderly and more digitally held election.

Transforming the voting preference of the members to online voting. More empowered members desired to serve the chapter that the chapter candidates exceeded by 4 (more than the 15 slots for election).

PICPA Comelec did a terrific job that the results of the election was posted in the association’s website, shortly after the election.

I am happy to report that your cash donations did produce results. Two of our participants in the STaR regional quizbowl garnered an award. Let’s continue to mentor, inspire and motivate them in the same manner we motivated our children that we can at least hope for them as future PICPA leaders.

The Lord’s blessings extends to the Sector Representative for Education who leads this project with a passing mark in the Pandemic BAR examination.

To institutionalize our secondary support effort for this activity, the motivational participation incentive scheme was put in writing with a memorandum of support and pledge with the sponsor on doubling the provincial award if and when a participant garner a regional award.

Third, more than ever, the campaign for proxy gathering was more focused and intense that (8) incumbent chapter officers and (5) advisers personally eMailed to 230 nonMIGS for them to avail the extended amnesty program for them to execute their proxy. We ranked top 6th (@46% of Chapter MIGS) of 13 chapters in the STaR region proxy gathering performance. The VP Membership was concentrating on the MIGS proxy.

Our sincerest thanks to the National Office Finance for sending to us the much needed chapter share of membership fee for the period August 2021 to October 2021 amounting to Php51,367.00.

Professional development has managed to conduct two webinars in May & June despite of the heavy burden of the national elections and proxy gatherings.

Treasury operations timely disbursed via GCash the awards to the winners of the chapter’s Accounting Quizbowl contest. The committed additional awards from the Chapter President to those who garnered the regional place has also been disbursed to the 2 placers.

The Secretary department sustained timely reporting to the National Office. In addition, supported the dizzying requirements for the PICPA national elections.

And Sectoral Representative in Public Practice, Sister Normie, continued to storm high heavens with her daily virtual prayers that we be guided and directed in our daily tasks and projects, heal those who are suffering and always be with a grateful and generous heart. And her prayers were granted.

Thank you guys for the generous support to PICPA Rizal chapter. It is a wonderful and rewarding feeling of which I would like you to taste the same. Let’s move forward, highly empowered, informed and prudently happy.

WEBINARS The Role of CPAs under the Anti-Money Laundering Law Part 1 webinar was conducted on May 28, 2022 from 10:00am to 12:00 noon. The resource speaker, Atty. Rainer dela Fuente discussed the AMLC regulations for Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professionals (DNFBPs) in particular those applicable for covered professionals such as Lawyers and CPAs. The resource speaker identifies those who are covered professionals under the AMLA as amended. He also identified the role of the

covered professionals in helping the AMLC in the implementation of the AMLC. It was offered to all members in good standing (MIGS) for Php375 and a package of Php700 for Part 1 (conducted on May 28, 2022) and Part 2 (to be conducted on June 4, 2022) while Non‐Members and Non‐MIGS for Php500 and a package of Php950 for Part 1 and Part 2 webinars.

The participants earned 1.5 CPD units under Competence A.

PICPA Rizal Chapter conducted the webinar on The Role of CPAs under the Anti-Money Laundering Law Part 2 on June 04, 2022 from 10:00am to 12:00 noon. The resource speaker, Atty. Rainer dela Fuente discussed the covered persons and the requirements for AMLC registration. He also tackled the obligations and duties of the covered persons, including preventive measures, customer due diligence, transaction reporting and recordkeeping. The resource speaker covered other important matters like financial sanctions and guidelines on the digitization of customer records. It was offered to all members in good standing (MIGS) for Php375 and a package of Php700 for Part 1 (conducted on May 28, 2022) and Part 2 (conducted on June 4, 2022) while Non‐ Members and Non‐MIGS for Php500 and a package of Php950 for Part 1 and Part 2 webinars. BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING The 4th General Membership and 12th Board of Directors Meeting was held on June 30, 2022 from 7:00pm to 9:45pm. It was attended by the PICPA Rizal Chapter Members and Officers. The agenda that were discussed are the activities accomplished in FY 2021-2022 and meeting the new officers for FY 2022-2023. The program started with a Welcome Remarks and President’s report from our President Danniboy Cero. He acknowledged the PICPA Rizal Chapter Past Presidents and shared the empowerment of officers, transparency and being prudent in the chapter funds management.

Treasurer Yolanda Narvasa reported the financials for the fiscal year and focused on the funds balance and adjustments of advances and VAT. Secretary Melissa Constantino discussed the chapter’s scorecard. Vice President for Membershipr Robert

Arellano shared the status of the MIGS and Proxy Forms. Vice President for Professional Development Barbara Pinos shared the webinars offered for the year. Auditor Anita Santiago discussed the CSR activities of the chapter. Assistant Secretary and Assistant PRO Dineth Larsen shared the submissions of Newsletter and E-Journal to the National Office. Director for Education Atty. Zosimo Maglangit Jr. reported the recently concluded Chapter and STaR quizbowl participations. ExOfficio Betty Esplana give an inspirational message and encourage everyone to continue to promote the welfare of the Chapter’s members. President-Elect Rosemarie Gatlabayan introduced the new set of officers for FY 2022-2023, discussed the draft plan for the Turnover and Induction Ceremony and delivered the closing Remarks.

PICPA Election for FY 2022-2023 On May 16, 2022, Monday, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM Members in good standing (MiGS) as of March 15, 2022 have voted in three ways: (1) 4 members personally cast their ballots at the PICPA Rizal Chapter office at 2nd Floor Harp Casa Divina San Jose St. Barangay San Isidro, Antipolo City, (2) 3 by proxy ballots,

and (3) 55 members by voting online in the PICPA OVS or Online Voting System to elect the PICPA officers for FY2022-2023.

STaR REGION The PICPA Rizal Chapter participated in the P1CPA STaR Region 1st Regional Team Building and Leadership Training and Summer Getaway held on April 23-24, 2022 at Bernabech Resort in Nasugbu, Batangas. Three officers and 2 Secretariat joined the event. Ms. Betty Esplana and Mr. Rolando Leyble, Former Past Senior Regional Directors delivered an inspirational message.

On April 2022, the PICPA Southern Tagalog Region conducted a PQF Summit. The summit was participated by PICPA Rizal President Danniboy Cero.

The PICPA Rizal Chapter participated in the PICPA STaR Region Regional Quizbowl where five accounting students of the PICPA Rizal Chapter were represented on May 28, 2022. The activity was organized and hosted by PICPA IRRI-UPLB with the PICPA theme: “Transform: Embracing Possibilities and Realizing Potentials”. Participating PICPA STAR Chapters are Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Lipa City, Occidental Mindoro, Cavite, Marinduque, Laguna, Romblon, San Pablo, Palawan, Rizal and Quezon. The activity was also live streamed on FB. Congratulations to the PICPA Rizal Chapter Winners: Basic Level 3rd Place - Akol, Alyssa Joy from University of Rizal System – Binangonan and Intermediate Level 1st Runner Up - Caraan, Rhica Mae from Tomas Claudio College.

MONTHLY BOARD MEETINGS The tenth Board of Directors’ Meeting for FY 20212022 was held virtually on May 03, 2022. Eight of the current officers were present while 3 Ex-officios: Ms. Betty Esplana, Ms. Remigia Pantoja and Ms. Virginia Batistiana attended the meeting. The President and department heads reported on their April 2022 performances and forward actions. The Sectoral Directors were recognized on their participations and active role to help enhance the Chapter’s performance. Proxy forms were discussed by VP for Professional Development, Robert Arellano and he asked the help of the officers to work together to contact the remaining 165 MIGS and get their proxy votes which we need as this is part of the chapter’s scorecard, this was supported by President Danniboy Cero, the officers and Past President Betty Esplana.

The eleventh monthly Board of Directors meeting for FY 2021-2022 was held virtually via zoom on June 20, 2022. President Danniboy Cero and each departments presented the accomplishments for the fiscal year 2021-2022. Review of the Scorecard and approval of the board resolution for PICPA Rizal Corporate Social Responsibility Programme Medals for Honor Graduates of B. S. Accountancy in province of Rizal were also discussed. Nine from the current officers were present and was joined by 2 Ex‐officios: Ms. Betty Esplana and Ms. Remigia Pantoja.

The twelfth and last monthly Board of Directors meeting for FY 2021-2022 was held virtually via zoom on June 30, 2022 together with the 4th General Membership Meeting. Accomplishments of each Department and the Chapter as a whole were shared during the meeting. Also, the review of Scorecard for FY 2021-2022, brief overview on the turnover and induction preparations for the incoming FY 2022-2023 Board of Directors and Officers have been discussed.

Members were apprised on what had been transpired in PICPA Rizal Chapter for the entire fiscal year.

The PICPA Rizal Chapter were given a special citation for our contribution to the E-Journal and a recognition by the PICPA National Office on June 18, 2022 during the Handog: Thanksgiving & Appreciation night at Edsa Shagri-La Hotel, Mandaluyong City. The awards were received by President Danniboy P. Cero. Congratulations Picpa Rizal and President Danniboy P. Cero!!!!

Zosimo (Jun) Maglangit, Jr. for passing the Bar Exam!

The batch 2020-2021 Bar examination results were released by the Supreme Court on April 12, 2022. As announced, 8,241 out of 11,402 (72.28%) examinees successfully passed the 2022 Bar exams. The digitalized 2022 bar exams for 2020-2021 is the largest batch of examinees in history. This is the batch that will fulfill the lack of new lawyers that happened within the last two years due to the pandemic. One of the successful examinee is our very own Sectoral Education Director Atty. Zosimo Maglangit, Jr. Kudos Atty. Jun!!!! PICPA Rizal Chapter is very proud with your achievement.
