Dear Readers, At the beginning of my appointment as Scientific Director of this prestigious publication, Acta Medic Mediterranea, I would first of all like to send my greetings to the Editing and Scientific Committees of the Review, and wish them, and myself, a fruitful period of work. I will be paying particular attention to the readers, who I believe, and hope, will be numerous: the subjects dealt with in the Review are very varied and certainly interest a large number of academics. Furthermore, since the articles published have an important practical and applicatory value, whilst remaining within well grounded scientific precepts, it may be appropriate to include editorials and studies on the main themes dealt with in the editions. I believe that this point could be discussed with the owner of the Review and the Editing Committee, and may become a distinguishing feature that makes the Review more and more widespread and appreciated on a national level. Now that the end-of-year festivities are underway I would like to take the opportunity to wish all our readers and future contributors and writers a Happy New Year. Alberto Notarbartolo
