Photo-monograph “Past in the Present – Lubenice” is what the title suggests, an in-depth study of a one subject, of a little city/hamlet on the island Cres in the Kvarner region of Croatia.
Observing, studying, spending hours following miraculous performances of nature and mutations of light pattern, and shadows on the stone walls of Lubenice, art photographer Zeljko Jelenski captures the mystique of the hamlet to create this anthology of images.
Within the hardcover of this photo-monograph are 111 exclusive and unique art images displayed across 164 large-format pages (30 x 40 cm). It is a pictorial romantic fairytale where imagination intersects with reality, and the past is indivisible from the present. In this fairytale the viewer is the protagonist, strolling through the Cres hamlet of Lubenice, rediscovering the innermost feelings of loneliness as well as happiness. The viewer will be transported to the place where it is enough to simply exist, to be.
