Lizzie’s Sloe Gin Recipe
There’s nothing like a homemade recipe to capture the spirt of the festive season. Our Sloe Gin is perfect to share with friends or sip on during a cosy winter’s night. Either way, a glass of our festive favourite brings comfort as the evenings draw in.
Ingredients
450g of Sloes – freshly picked or frozen 300-450g of White Sugar – Granulated or Caster (whichever you have on-hand)
700ml Gin – your favourite will be perfect!
Method
1 - Prepare the fruit
Prick the skin of each sloe using a fork or cocktail stick to help them release their flavour, and then place them in a large, sterilised jar.

– Time to Sweeten
Add your sugar to the jar and then pour over your Gin of choice. Make sure to seal the jar tightly and then give it a cocktail style shake to combine your ingredients.
3 – Store and Shake
Store your jar in a cool dark place and give it a gentle shake every few days for the first week, and then once a week after that. Let it rest for as long as possible, the longer it’s there, the better it gets.
4 – Finishing Touches
When you’re ready to enjoy, strain your gin in to bottles. For a festive touch, decorate with a ribbon and tag - ready to gift to your family and friends. Make sure you keep one for yourself of course!

Our Journey
Father and son duo, Jack and David Mosley, formed Phoenox Textiles all the way back in 1954.
1970 saw the creation of the first-ever machine-washable rug.
Hug Rug was formed in 2007 with the aim of creating natural and sustainably-focused products for your home.
The Hug Rug range and team expanded, with over 150 people working at our Huddersfield factory, all making washable rugs for thoughtful living.
