FOR CHAPTER USE

A GUIDE FOR CHAPTERS TO REFER TO FOR SOCIAL MEDIA

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Social media plays a crucial role in shaping the public image of your chapter, often more than you may realize How many of you or your family members searched for your chapter online when you first joined? How many of you took the time to research different chapters on social media before and during recruitment to get a sense of their values and culture? Have you thought about future employers viewing your chapter accounts?

What you post on your chapter’s social media accounts directly reflects the chapter as a whole. The content shared online not only impacts your current members but also influences potential new associates, alumni, and the broader community. It's essential to use social media thoughtfully to present your chapter in the best possible light, fostering growth, building a strong reputation, and honoring the legacy of your alumni A positive and authentic online presence helps attract like-minded individuals and ensures your chapter’s values are upheld both online and offline

CHAPTER ACCOUNTS

Make sure your chapter’s account is following HQ on Instagram, Facebook, and Linkedin

Follow all brothers on the chapter account.

INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNTS

Tag HQ in posts that you feel we should see and highlight. Make sure every brother is following the chapter account, as well as the HQ account. Brothers should share posts related to promoting major chapter events.

BEST PRACTICES

Show all of the good

It's always a great idea to showcase the positive impact you and your brothers are making. Be sure to regularly highlight philanthropy events, community service efforts, and recognitions like "Brother of the Week" on your social media platforms.

At each event, assign someone to be responsible for capturing content ideally one brother filming and another taking photos. This ensures you have quality material to share.

Use your social media presence to reflect the values of Phi Sig and demonstrate your commitment to making a difference on campus and in the community. A consistent and positive online presence goes a long way in building your reputation and inspiring others to want to join.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

Your Social Media Reflects Your Chapter

What you post impacts your chapter’s image to potential new members, alumni, and the public.

Follow and Tag the IHQ Account

Chapters and brothers should follow Phi Sig HQ on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, and tag HQ in relevant posts.

Highlight Positive Impact

Showcase philanthropy, service, brotherhood, and achievements. Assign brothers to take quality photos and videos at events.

Branding Matters

Do you best to keep up with Phi Sigma Kappa’s branding (colors, fonts, logos) when it is applicable. Branding builds brand awareness.

Keep Content Appropriate

Never post images of alcohol, drinking, or anything inappropriate even if it’s from a fun event.

Use Multiple Platforms Wisely

All chapters should have an active Instagram and post regularly. Facebook is recommended, TikTok is optional, and LinkedIn is recommended for personal use.

Post with Purpose

Every post should reflect the fraternity’s values. Ask: “Would I be proud for alumni, my family, or university officials to see this?”
