2022 NATIONAL CONCLAVE HIGHLIGHTS

After a 4-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Phi Mu Deltas from across the country were able to gather once more in person for fellowship and to conduct the business of the Fraternity. Over 120 undergraduates and alumni gathered in Pittsburgh, PA for four days discussing issues relevant to Phi Mu Delta's future growth and success. For many of the undergraduate delegates, this was their first opportunity to network with alumni and officers from other chapters. Saturday saw spirited debates as the Conclave tackled proposed changes to the By-laws and Fraternity policies.

Conclave Highlights

The full implementation of a 72-hour new member program The first change to the Founders' Creed to be more inclusive of members who are not citizens of the United States. Implementation of a new membership dues structure as recommended by the Finance Working Group Updating of language within the National Constitution and By-Laws Election of new National Council Members

MEET THE NATIONAL COUNCIL 2022 - 2024

Joseph Thompson (Mu Alpha'08)

Joe graduated from Susquehanna University with a degree in History and Secondary Education, followed by a Master’s degree in College Student Affairs from Rutgers University. He currently serves as the Assistant Director of Student Development at Stockton University where he oversees the fraternity and sorority community. He is a college speaker for Greek University where he focuses on issues of masculinity. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and four cats.

Richard Winter (Mu Zeta'10)

Richard earned a B.S. in Political Science in 2010 and a M.A.in Liberal Arts in 2012, both from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. Since his time at Lock Haven, Rich has volunteered for Phi Mu Delta at various times and he has previously served as the President of the Mu Zeta Alumni Association. Rich recently moved back to Pennsylvania with his wife, Kathryn, his son, Bobby. He recently purchased a cemetery in Warren, Pennsylvania. In his free time you may be able to catch Rich playing World of Warcraft or other online games, as well as board gaming, reading, or sampling a great craft beer.

Phillip Morin (Nu Gamma'12)

Originally from Northern Vermont, Phil moved to Burlington in 2008 to attend UVM. He remained in the area following graduation. He shares a home with his partner of nine years, Tucker and their cat, Grey, and their dog Nico. Through his work at Hunger Free Vermont, he provides integrated outreach and training on 3SquaresVT, a federal nutrition program that works to eliminate food insecurity. In collaboration with federal, state, and community partners, he works to address barriers to participation so all Vermonters can access the programs for which they are eligible. In addition to his volunteer work on Phi Mu Delta’s National Council, Phil also volunteers his time at his local library, with New Leaders Council Vermont, and with the United Way of Northwestern Vermont.

William T. Foran III (Mu Theta'01)

At IUP, Will earned degrees in Political Science and a M.A. in Higher Education. His professional experience is in in higher education and association management with nearly 20 years of experience including work at Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Mount Union and Western Illinois University before joining the team at the North American Interfraternity Conference in 2008. He currently serves as the Senior Vice President and is responsible for the Conference’s educational programming and campus support program. Will previously served as a member of the National Council from 2001 –2008 and as National Secretary and National Vice President before joining the board of the Phi Mu Delta Educational Foundation, which he served on until this summer. Will resides in Noblesville, IN with his wife Gretchen and two daughters.

Louie Land (Mu Alpha'12)

Louie has studied at Susquehanna University (BA), Bucknell University (MA), and the University of Idaho (MFA). He served as the Chapter Advisor for the Mu Alpha chapter after graduation and received the Dr. Albert D. Nutting Award for Outstanding Chapter Advisor at Conclave in 2018. A teacher and academic, Louie’s classes often intersect with popular culture: he has taught classes on superhero comic books and films, contemporary poetry and fiction, and jazz. He is also a semi-professional musician—his album Afterglow was released in 2018 on West of Everything Records.

Timothy Schafer (Mu Xi'17)

Since joining the Mu Xi Chapter at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, Tim has been highly engaged at the local and National level of the Fraternity. He served several positions, including Vice President of Membership, at the Mu Xi Chapter and as Undergraduate Representative on the National Council. Tim lives in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

The role of the National Council of Phi Mu Delta is to establish leadership consistent with the Fraternity’s Constitution and Bylaws, regarding the finances, management and activities for the further advancement of the Phi Mu Delta Fraternity. The National Council is the authority for the governance of the Fraternity. Members serve a two-year term.
