The highly respected satellite reception brand has developed a new Universal Quad LNB for the UK (page 19) and a FTA HD Satellite Receiver (page 15) both of which have had a positive reception from the trade.

Known for premium AV products, Thor have joined with us to market their TV bracket range. These sturdy brackets have some great features and are easy to install.

We have also tried to provide you with some useful information including a few words on new regulations like RED which affects amplifiers, CPR which affects cable and the 700MHz clearance which will probably affect us all.

Satellite Accessories RF Modulator This compact unit with SCART AV Input and ‘F’-Aerial connections allows you to modulate your DVD or CCTV signal, so that it can be distributed around your home. Masthead The Radio Products Equipment Directive 2014 You will start to see this logo appearing on equipment that takes a signal off-air or transmits a signal to-air but what is behind it and what is the relevance to the installer?

Background

What will change?

As new technologies use more and more of the radio spectrum there is an increasing need for equipment to operate within narrower ranges, handling more signals and not causing issues in adjacent frequencies. RED sets out the principles for efficient use of the spectrum and under it are a number of Harmonised Standards that help simplify compliance for manufacturers.

RED came into full effect in 2017.

Labgear will be the first to deliver a fully compliant range of amplifiers to the market. These new amps will have:

Harmonised Standard EN 303 354: Amplifiers

• Improved gain flatness delivering a better balance across the performance range

• Lower noise and therefore improved signal quality

• Greater signal handling capacity to cope with the more crowded spectrum

protection from things like 4G interference.
