The Big Picture of Human Evolution Let’s look into our past at the human species that came before us, and now, are us.

Australopithecus Afarensis was the earliest form of humans. They lived 3.2 million years ago and finished their evolution 2.3 million years ago.

Homo Habilis was the second form of humans, evolved from Australopithecus Afarensis. These humans lived from 2.3 million years ago to 1.4 million years ago when they completed their evolution.

Australopithecus Afarensis was the third form of humans. They lived 1.4 million years ago and finished their evolution 200,000 years ago.

Australopithecus Afarensis was the earliest form of humans. They lived 200,000 million years ago and are now us. Some say they stopped evolving about 40,000 years ago.

They evolved into us.

Homo sapiens, AKA you and me and everybody else, is the most current, and most evolved version of humans up to this point. We are descended from Neanderthals, who stopped evolving about 40,000 years ago.
