MUSC Pharmacy Building Campaign
ways of giving
Gifts directed to the Medical University of South Carolina Foundation for the MUSC Pharmacy Building Campaign are an investment in the future of pharmacy education in the state of South Carolina. Cash and/or Pledges: Cash and pledges may be made on a monthly, quarterly, semiannual, or annual basis. More than 1,500 American companies offer corporate matching gift plans to match gifts made by employees, officers, directors, and, in some cases, spouses and/or retired employees, officers, or directors. Corporate Gifts: Business owners or CEOs might wish to consider making a corporate cash or in-kind gift through which they may derive federal tax benefits. Stock/Securities: Gifts of long-term appreciated assets may provide significant federal tax or estate benefits. Bequests: A bequest is a very simple way to help provide for the future excellence of the MUSC Pharmacy Building Campaign. Life Insurance: Both currently owned policies and newly created policies allow for leveraging today’s dollars for larger gifts in the future. Charitable Gift Annuities: A charitable gift annuity is a contract between you and the MUSC Foundation that guarantees you a lifetime payout in exchange for cash or assets. Charitable Remainder Trusts: Remainder trusts may be either annuity trusts or unitrusts that make payouts to you for your lifetime or a term of years with the remainder value paid to the MUSC Foundation. Charitable Lead Trusts: Lead trusts provide income to the MUSC Foundation for a specific number of years; then the principal asset is returned to you or designated others with significant tax advantages. Real Property: In addition to gifting full or partial ownership of real property, you may choose to make a life estate gift, which allows you the right to use the property for the remainder of your life. Retirement Plans or other Assets: Use of beneficiary designation or charitable rollovers may offer tax or estate planning benefits. Philanthropic Planning The MUSC Planned Giving Office is available to assist you and your advisors in exploring and designing gift plans that meet the specific needs of both you and the MUSC Pharmacy Building Campaign. We encourage you to inform the college and/or the MUSC Foundation about your will or estate plan gift provisions. Knowing of your future gift plans allows the college to plan today for tomorrow’s needs and allows us to: • review the language of the charitable intentions to ensure the gift arrangement carries out your specific wishes • integrate your gifts into long-term future planning for the MUSC Pharmacy Building Campaign • thank you and recognize your generosity to the MUSC Pharmacy Building Campaign in a meaningful way.
