Every time I think of January 2019, when this all started, I had no idea I can build upon it I remember when I started my first attempts at vlogging and shit I called it “Keeping Up With SK-W!” Whatever the fuck like that I was riding with Brotha Do-Right, Tyler Jefferson, and I said on camera that I would bring Industry Shakedown back. Someway, somehow. Tyler said, “How?” I replied, “I dunno.”

I graduate undergrad on May 2, 2020; I get a fellowship, I move to Connecticut that Fall, and I wrap up 2020 on a somewhat OK note despite the world around me falling apart Well, fast-forward to Fall 2022; it’s my third semester in graduate school at Florida State; just days ahead of the first day of classes, my little brother gets shot I was shattered My little brother is my world, the reason I work so hard. Miraculously, he survives.

By the end of the school year, I had bounced back mentally and picked up sagging grades (yes, my first semester at Florida State SUCKED! ) So, it was time for an internship I had promised my (name redacted) that I would have an internship Well, luckily for me, there was this app that did live podcasts, and I thought BAM! Here we go, Industry Shakedown

From there, it has been one fuck of a ride with these niggas. I knew I wanted to expand the cast from 2 to 5. Of course, at the one, there’s me; at the two is my little (redacted); at the three, fellow King Brotha Deuce; at the four, well, “Beezy Outta Hea!” What follows is a continuation of what was a fun time in my life But now, this thing is all grown up, so we can say fuck the rules And we’ve been doing precisely that

To celebrate our anniversary and to thank everyone who has, was, and will support us. Our crowd is small right now, but you guys have been holding us down, and we here at ISD and P1P say thank you for that

That Summer before the school year started was filled with change It was my second Summer outside of New Orleans, and first full Summer in Memphis.

August rolls around and I move into Medgar Evers

Building B. Classes start soon after and what do you know, Shane is struggling to get over.

However, I had connected with this dude on like the second day This nigga was huge A good 5'11 240 lbs He was the size of a linebacker Anyway, I did not make friends at that place instantly Well I made one, Tyler Jefferson. He’s the big dude. He said one thing to me, “hey man I like your shirt.” I was like, “thanks dawg.” We exchanged names and have been bros ever since.

In the Fall of 2018, when things at Alcorn were till new, I knew I needed a team But not just any team But an All-Star group What I had in mind was to take different “cultures” of an HBCU (yes subcultures exist at HBCUs, no different from a PWI), and merge them But how? Who was worthy enough to call themselves a King? Who had the “it” factor the way that Col Larry K Sanders said that I had it? Crazy enough, Shane didn’t have to look too far

When I first met “Slim” Taplin, I was like, “what the fuck this boul lookin’ at?” Like I was convinced I was going to have to fight this guy, but turns he’s a wrestling fan Not just any fan either, but an insider like fan Around that time, I was beginning to learn the ins and outs of the production side of pro-wrestling Well, the funky 4 went online for Omega Psi Phi, earning himself the King Name “Brotha Dawg!”

Around that Same time I met two more people who would claim thrones For starters, Alonzo Campbell , is my blood cousin However, I didn’t meet him until we got to Alcorn This dude stands 7'0 tall and is a cool 235 lbs And in the paint at the 4 and 5, a true scorer and rebounder Finally, our baby Jordan S’Vante Jordan, in my opinion, is one of the GREATEST MASS COMM STUDENTS EVER! It’s not even close! And that’s saying A LOT! From the way they connected with people and hgow warm they are, Jordan is group’s moral compass

So, I’m the de-facto leader, Do-Right is the nerd, Too-Tall is the athlete, Dawg is the “IT BOY!” and Jordan is counselror WE ARE FOREVER THE 5-KINGZ!

Sometimes when you meet a person for the first time, you just don’t like them at first sight But then circumstances bring you closer to the person You realize, “hey he’s kind of good at what he does ” Then you realize that you and the person share a lot in common with the person From that point, you develop a bond. That bond leads to friendship. And in some cases (cause not all get to this point), you start to see them as a sibling.

That’s the exact story of how Brandon “Beezy” Corbin and I became brothas. Yeah, similar to Slim and myself, it was a “who the fuck is this guy?” However, Beezy could have cared less about how I initially felt about him. That’s where those situations differ. Now fast forward 6 years into the future, Slim,, Beezy and myself have had more good times than bad

From that infamous night on the hill (when those two fuck niggas got me sick), to the smoke sessions in Switzerland, whenever it was fun to be had, Beezy was right there It’s crazy because every time we had to travel, Beezy was there Miami, New Orleans, Dallas and now here in Houston Whenever there was something to be done, he was at the forefront, no questions asked. .

When it comes to loyalty only one other person can match KB’s fly, and that’s my baby brother Byrd And guess what, that’s saying a lot Since 2017, Khristopher “KB” Brown has been there since the original “Phantastic Fotos ” From the very early days of the “Four Casters” with Qu’Ran and Harley, this guy has seen multiple line-up changes over the years He has been THE ONE CONSTANT over the last 8 years It is no accident that he is a Chief Officer in P1P

These last few years have been brilliant with him What I love about this guy is that he is tough, but fair. Stern, but completetly understanding. it’s interesting because leadership can be both nurture and nature. With KB it’s nature, but the way he developed as a salesman, producer, and photographer will always be amazing in my opinion.

I first laid eyes on Ja’Me during my tenure at Hinds Community College However, at that time, I didn’t say shit to her A year after that it was as if she vanished I didn’t know her name, or anything like that I just knew she hung out with this fine ass slim thing a lot

Fast forward two years and out of no where, she reappears It was during our pilot radio shows at Alcorn I asked Sunshine, “yo, is lil mama married?” to which they replied, “no but I think she wants to be ”

So, we officially made acquaintances and she’s really been the most impressive thorn in my side that I’ve ever had Like Christ Yes, a wellknown Agnostic calling on Jesus, yes I know it’s ironic

Despite our tumultuous at best friendship, I can say in good faith, she’s a real one Originally, she played my love interest in “Silent Student,” one of our original series that flatlined due to COVID But because of how she can see things happening in her imagination, we welcomed her into the family

For real though, for the past six years, she has been a consistent friend, and for better or worse she’s been loyal to this very cause and has helped build what we call P1P brick-by brick, no pun intended

Alright here we are Ms Leilonni Jean Robinson there are so many things to say I honestly don t know where to start So how about the beginning? It was maybe 2 weeks before Alcorn Homecoming 2018 It was mid way through my first semester on the yard and I was kind of finding my footing after a rough start At a home football game I was speaking to a former friend We were talking about future homecoming events This tiny young ady interrupts my conversation and immediately annoys me I was like “who the fuck is this? And why are you being rude? I was off put But I later found out from a friend that her name is Lonni and she has an aggressive way of showing aggression

A second meeting between her and I took place in Alcorn s cafeteria an d let s just say I almost forgot she was a girl She arrives at my table with some of the friends I had made She greets everyone and finaly gets to me She says to me Hey how you doing? How does it feel to be a bitch ass nigga? I was like hold the fuck up Who this scrawny mother fucker think she is? She did all of that because I didn’t get her phone number I said “ my nigga if you want me to have your damn number give it to me And that was the beginning of a friendship that has stood the test of drama, heartache pain communication conversations redemption and reconciliation

It was because of her I met my cousin Zo He said he s from Portland by way of Ohio I was like yo I got people out there in Cleveland and some famos on the West Coast We began a friendship that goes on to this day And it s because of Leilonni Love her or hate her she has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that she is loyal friend and confidant
