Tagged as “The Rising City,” the City of San Jose Del Monte Bulacan has been consistently expanding its programs on industrialization or modernization to boost its local economy and provide livelihood to San Josenos. However, along with this development lies the risk of farmers losing not just their place, but even source of living in the city as 72 percent of the city’s agricultural land has already been converted to other uses. To hear the side of the upland farmers in Tungko, the same barangay where PFNHS is located, GIC editors investigated on the issue and published a special report that explores its roots, the current situation of the farmers, and their call for solidarity.
The publication also expressed its stand on the issue by giving a constructive analysis, evaluation, and suggestions in the main editorial. Other relevant topics in the current school year were also covered across the five sections of the publication—news, opinion, feature science and technology, and sports.
