“Cold” Pets Children playing in the snow, frozen lakes, ice skiing, snow balls and snow men are all the fun elements of this “cold” season. Yes, it’s chilly, but we still enjoy and look forward for this “cold and snowy” season. However, while we delight in the white carpet all around, we probably forget our four-legged companion, who is as cold as we are. Winter Comfort for dogs So, come winter and it’s time to take those extra precautions towards providing comfort, warmth and well-being of the pet dog.
Here are a few winter care tips for your pet dog.
Snow is fun and just like you, your pet dog may even wish to enjoy the white weather. No harm in this provided you provide the outdoor animal with the required warmth. A good idea is to have a draft-free shelter for the dog, which is big enough to stand and turn around in and small enough to hold the warmth within. However, all breeds of dogs have varying sheltering needs. So, a good idea is to purchase the perfect dog house, uniquely designed for your dog. A layer of saw or other bedding material is a good way to protect the pet from cold. Your dog may love it outdoors, but the salt and chemicals in the snow are bound to stick to the pet’s body, thus, leading to itchy, stinging and irritated paws. Drying the pet’s paws and areas between the toes, when inside is a good way to protect them from flaking, dry and irritable skin. Moreover, check the paws for redness. If any is found, address it immediately.
