A behind-the-scenes glance with Global Petroleum Show’s Event Director What are some things a first time visitor should know about Global Petroleum Show?
Darren Brechin, Event Director
I think first time visitors need to be aware of the sheer scope of Global Petroleum Show. The over 650,000 net square feet of exhibit space features the latest equipment, tools, technologies, products and services in the oil and gas industry. Our outdoor area allows visitors to see field equipment at work with hands on displays. With over 2000 companies exhibiting and many networking events going, there is a lot to see at Global Petroleum Show.

What new feature are you excited to present to visitors in 2012?
New Exhibit Space—Hall F
We are very excited to be hosting the International Energy Marketplace. This dedicated area of the exhibition offers international and regional participants and attendees the chance to meet about business opportunities both locally and around the world. Formerly known as the Alberta International House, the newly created International Energy Marketplace provides a venue for conducting presentations, discussions and meetings. This relaxed environment allows attendees to network and navigate business with the Canadian market and in turn provides the local markets with an opportunity to have access to international markets. The International Energy Marketplace is truly, a two way street for international business opportunities.
Global Energy Career Expo 2012
What would visitors be surprised to know about the show? The event started out as the National Petroleum Show in 1968 and has grown into the international presence it has today, as Global Petroleum Show. Over 95 countries are now represented. I think people would be surprised to know just how intensive the planning process for this show is. In fact, as you are reading this we are already planning the 2014 show. The move-in process alone, takes a full two weeks. Bringing the equipment of the field to the outdoor area is a massive undertaking but well worth the final product we will deliver to our visitors in June. What are you most excited about for Global Petroleum Show 2012? I joined the team at the end of 2010, so this is my first Global Petroleum Show. We have been planning, since I began, so I am really excited to see it all come together. I think seeing all the activity and equipment come together in the outdoor area is really going to be amazing to witness.
