Мы продолжаем интересоваться прошлым. По нашему мнению, внимания достоин тот, кто сохранил в себе огонь и продолжает дело. Именно таким человеком является петербургский музыкант и райтер Fuze (The Royal Steel). Многие знают Fuze как рэпера, но помимо музыки его интересует и художественная составляющая хип-хоп культуры. В далеком 1996 году Fuze впервые попробовал рисовать спреем. C тех пор он увлечен граффити и музыкой!
We continue to be absorbed in the past. In our opinion, those with a passion and who support a cause are worthy of attention. That’s exactly the kind of person that St. Petersburg musician and graffiti artist Fuze (The Royal Steel) is. Many people know Fuze as a rapper but besides music, his interests include the artistic components of hip-hop culture. Fuze made his first attempts at spray painting way back in 1996. Since then he’s been hooked on graffiti and music!
Насколько нам известно, ты достаточно давно познакомился с граффити. Как это произошло – ведь в то время не было интернета, печатных изданий, специализированных магазинов? Я помню, что впервые обратил свое внимание на граффити, когда мне в руки попалась кассета с клипами американских рэп-исполнителей начала 1990-х. Я пересматривал ее бесконечно, мне нравилась музыка, одежда и сама атмосфера забытых Богом районов большого города, стены которого покрыты странными надписями и не менее причудливыми персонажами. Мне было 14, когда я впервые попробовал сам что-то нарисовать аэрозолем. Тогда я ограничивался тем, что писал название любимых музыкальных команд, и, вероятно, все на этом и закончилось бы, но летом 1995-го я стал все чаще и чаще бывать у станции метро «Горьковская», где находилась точка продажи рэп-кассет и куда ежедневно съезжались несколько десятков подростков со всех концов города. Именно здесь от старших парней я получал свои первые знания обо всех направлениях хип-хоп культуры. Моим наставником в граффити стал Вова Зааф, он же Склероз, от него я узнал о тэгах, баблах, вайлд-стайлах
You’ve been involved in graffiti for quite a while now, haven’t you? What started it all? After all, the Internet, graffiti publications, and specialized shops didn’t exist at the time. I remember I first came across graffiti when I got hold of a video tape featuring American rap artists from the early 1990s. I watched it over and over again: I was struck by the music, the fashion, and the aura of a godforsaken place in a big city, where the walls are covered in strange inscriptions and even more fantastical characters. I was 14 when I first tried my hand at spray painting. At the time, I restricted myself to drawing the names of my favourite bands. It probably would have ended there if, in the summer of 1995, I hadn’t started to hang out more often at the Gorkovskaya metro station, where rap videos were sold and a few dozen teenagers from all over the city gathered. That’s where I got my first lessons in the different schools of hip-hop culture from older guys. Vova Zaaf became my graffiti mentor. Nicknamed ‘Sclerosis’, he taught me everything about tags, bubble lettering, wildstyle, and other interesting things, as well as how every graffiti artist must have a nickname and that a crew is made up of several
