PHILATELIC SOCIETY FOR GREATER SOUTHERN AFRICA 2016 AUCTION AN ANNUAL AUCTION PRESENTED BY THE PSGSA FOR IT’S MEMBERS AND FELLOW COLLECTORS OF THE STAMPS OF SOUTHERN AFRICA This year the Society is pleased to offer nearly 500 Lots of general and specialized philatelic material including postal history, sets, singles and related material designed to provide collectors with the opportunity to add to their holdings and share in the knowledge of their fellow philatelists. Bidding instructions and the necessary myriad administrative details can be found on page 2 and an index on page 3. Good Luck.

PHILATELIC SOCIETY FOR GREATER SOUTHERN AFRICA 2016 ANNUAL AUCTION TERMS AND CONDITIONS Bidding. a. Bid(s) may be submitted by upon receipt of the Catalog but must be submitted by email before December 15, 2016 to the Auction Manager at PSGSA2016@gmail.com. b. Each Lot is subject to the indicated reserve price imposed by the vendor and will be sold to the highest bidder at one increment over the second highest bid, or the reserve. c. Bids must include the Lot Number and the bidders highest bid at, or over, the reserve. Bidders must also provide their full names, addresses and phone numbers. No information submitted with bids will be made public.

Payment and Shipping. a. Shipping and Handling Charges are based upon the actual cost of packaging, insurance and shipping. Overseas bidders are responsible for any custom duties and taxes imposed by their respective country. Shipping charges depend upon your location and an estimate can be given when accompanied by your Zip code or Country. We combine multiple items to reduce shipping & packing costs. b. Successful bidders will be sent an invoice informing them of the net price and the address to which to make payment.

To cover the Society’s expenses buyers and vendors will be each assessed 6% of the cost of each Lot plus actual cost of processing payment. c. Payment must be made within 14 days of invoicing in Dollar-denominated instruments payable through a U.S. bank.

PayPal, credit cards, your bank’s Bill Pay, checks, money orders and cashier’s checks made out to PSGSA will be accepted. d. Lots will be posted upon receipt and clearance of payment and shall be at risk of the successful bidder once placed in the mail. Lots will be posted by the safest possible method. Lots will be insured or registered if requested or at the discretion of the auction manager.

General Information. a. Lots are identified by date and catalog Nos. viz. SG_ (Stanley Gibbons 2014), Sc_ Scott (2012), SACC_ (2012), Barefoot_ (1996) & Reisener_ (1975). Union of South Africa Varieties and values are identified as per the Union Handbook (1986 ed.) b. Where possible a “Catalog Value” is provided as an estimated retail price. These reference values derive from guidance by vendors, past sales, experience and catalogs. c. Every Lot is scanned and bidders are invited to satisfy themselves on such visible quality issues as centering, perforations, etc. Large Lots may have a representative sample scanned; feel free to ask for more at no cost. The Blue number to the right of the Reserve is the page of the scan for that Lot. d. All Lots are sold as genuine and in the general condition as stated but the descriptions are the opinion of the auction manager. e. Any Lot may be returned within 7 days (14 days for overseas bidders) if the purchaser can prove that the Lot is not as described or genuine. f. Expertizing any Lot is the responsibility of purchaser and notification of intent should be made at the time of bidding.

Payment for any Lot on extension must still be made upon invoice. Purchasers returning Lots for just cause will be reimbursed for reasonable expertizing and postal fees.

The final process was to guillotine the sheets into the counter-size sheetlets. All Proof Sheets but the 30¢ value were printed on chalky, Litho Chromo Coated Papers, Ltd. and the iss'd stamps on Harrison's ordinary paper. Only EIGHT Proof sheetlets (80 stamps in all) can exist. W/red ms. notations. Surprisingly, KRUGER's signature is extremely RARE.
