Manifesto Hi my name is Jav and I’m studying Public Health and Community Studies. The reason why I am running for VP-education is because I WANT ‘change’ for all students!!!! And change can only happen if your voices are heard. I feel that I am a clear cut choice for this role. However, I will not promise anything that I cannot deliver, so therefore I have four pledges I promise to deliver:
1. Online submission for all students: To ensure all students have the opportunity to submit their work online because it is important that students should be able to submit their academic work online with ease and not being felt like they are being rushed. 2. Online feedback given on time: Ensure online feedback is given in a timely manner because converting to the online service isn’t only saving paper but is also an effective way of allowing the students to access their feedback on time in the comfort of their homes without having to make the extra journey to campus. 3. Ensure all academic deadlines for essays are spread out throughout the academic year. Because it is becoming increasing difficult for students to submit they work all at once and especially for those who are in placement and do not have the time to hand in work due to the fact that, majority of the students who are on placement are expected to work full time hours and hand in their work in their OWN time. Which leads to my final pledge that is: Stop ignoring us? 4. Part-time, long distance learners and parent families are being ignored This is unfair! Those students who have other commitments are given little one to one support by their tutors and I propose if being elected that I will improve the communication barrier that is currently there and try to implement other forms of communication for example have tutors deliver one-to-one meetings via Skype so those students who cannot attend one to one meeting which could be for many reasons for example some part-time students as well as full time students have young children so therefore it is unacceptable and unreasonable those parents who struggle find childcare in order to come into university for an one to one meeting with can be easily implemented over Skype.
These pledges that I have put forward I feel passionate about as they are many full and part time students struggling to meet they academic studies whilst making their family a priority. So I kindly ask from you wonderful people to; not to delay your RIGHT to your FREE vote and act without delay on the 25/02/2014 and be in for a chance to get your voice heard!!!!
