With music, entertainment and various side stalls, this annual celebration of motoring nostalgia is a fantastic day out for all the family.

The Ritchie Cup

The recipient of the Ritchie Cup for 2014 is Lesley Munro, Administrator for the Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club (SVVC). Lesley has had vintage vehicles in her blood all of her life and has followed a family “tradition” of being involved in the Glamis Transport Extravaganza almost from its inception, with parents Don and Kathleen Munro and Grandparents Noel and Jean Jolly all being heavily involved in the running of the event over the years.

Lesley’s own formal involvement was incremental and began with a role as a youthful “Extravaganza Girl”, then taking on other responsibilities in successive events, before graduating in 1998 to a dual role with the SVVC as both a Committee Director and as Assistant Administrator and ultimately taking on her current role as Administrator for the club in August 2000.

Lesley has held a prime role in liaising with the many participants and organisations involved in significant club events from the Extravaganza, major vintage vehicle and spares auctions, Jubilee and other significant displays and in promoting the club and the vintage vehicle movement to a worldwide audience.

Lesley’s verve and enthusiasm has contributed to the club winning not one but two Ambassador awards in her period of tenure as Administrator and has helped to maintain the SVVC as a prime mover at the heart of the vintage scene, dedicated to the preservation of our transport heritage.

With Lesley’s assistance the SVVC has realised a long held aspiration to have club premises which cater for all enthusiasts and encourages wider interest in all things associated with vintage vehicles.

Lesley remains as committed as ever and is a worthy recipient of the award for 2014.
