ZARA’S STORY
Zara, aged 37, graduated from university with a BA in Visual Communication in 2019 but could not find suitable employment during the Covid outbreak. Being unhappy in receipt of benefits, she got in touch with PET-Xi after hearing about the Sector Based Work Academy through the National Career Service.
Support provided by PET-Xi Zara took part in PET-Xi’s Level 2 team leading course, a qualification which gives learners an understanding of the principles of resource management, planning and allocating work, performance evaluation and the importance of information exchange and feedback. She also took part in the Level 2 customer services programme which teaches learners skills including how to create a professional first impression, how to manage and develop customer relationships and techniques on how to respond to complaints, as part of the Sector Based Work Academy with TSYS leading to a guaranteed interview. PET-Xi progressions coach Harry Cracker also supported Zara with the job application process. He said: “Zara did brilliantly on both of the courses and was really e ngaged throughout. I also helped find employment opportunities and gave additional support with applications. “She was really motivated to succeed, and after being offered an interview for a job opportunity we thought suited her skills, she called me to chat about the best ways to prepare for this. “After a successful interview, Zara was offered a position within the financial Services sector, which was a fantastic result.”
