TILLIE’S STORY
P E T-X i C A S E S T U DY PET-Xi’s Positive Futures Plus project supports 15-24 year olds who are NEET in Coventry and Warwickshire into a positive destination. As well as access to learning, there is ongoing weekly support from a mentor on a 1:1 basis. Tillie suffers from a condition called PANS, which also causes her to have severe anxiety and OCD. Going to school became difficult for Tillie due the effects the c ondition has had on her health. The school she attended have not been able to support Tillie to ensure she had a positive e xperience and outcome so therefore has resulted in Tillie being disengaged from school and her peers for the last 2 years of her education. Tillie has so far been attending Employability Skills, maths and English sessions, as well as completing a Level 2 Qualification in Health and Social Care and participated and enjoyed engaging in learning again. Tillie has also been enjoying dance lessons with Ellie on Friday via Zoom. Through building her confidence and getting engaged back into education, Tillie has now decided to apply for a place at college to study Beauty Therapy.

“Tillie has been ill for 9 years and we have had little in the way of support educationally since she has been unable to access school. The time taken by the team to find out about Tillie and her needs within the programme has been excellent and has been executed with a huge amount of empathy and understanding right down to placing Ellie as her mentor which is absolutely fabulous as instantly there was the dance link there and it put Tillie at ease and into her comfort zone. Every member of staff is knowledgeable and patient, therefore Tillie is finally starting to achieve the potential that we know is in there, it just n eeded the right people and approach to unlock it!
