P E T-X i C A S E S T U DY Nicole, aged 31, was made redundant from her position in training and development due to the coronavirus pandemic. After becoming homeless, Nicole moved from London to Rugby with her daughter and was referred to PET-Xi by Universal Credit as part of the sector-based work academy. This provided her with an opportunity to upskill and also offered a g uaranteed interview for employment opportunities at PET-Xi on s uccessful c ompletion of the course.
Support provided by PET-Xi Nicole took part in PET-Xi’s Level 2 team leading course, a qualification aimed at individuals aspiring to become a team leader. The course gives learners an understanding of the principles of resource management, planning and allocating work, performance evaluation and the importance of information exchange and feedback. After completing the course and being successful at interview, Nicole was offered a position with PET-Xi as a Recruitment IAG Progressions Coach. Char Bailey, who lead the team leading course, said: “Nicole had a lot of previous experience already so provided added value to the group when answering questions and providing examples. “She was a fantastic member of the group and a great all-rounder who gave some really nice feedback on some of the other learners which lifted their spirits. “I’m very pleased that she was able to secure a position with PET-Xi, and I’m sure she’ll fit in really well.”
Outcomes Nicole is due to start her position at PET-Xi in February 2021 and is excited to begin making a difference to the lives of other learners.
