P E T- X i C A S E S T U D Y Max Pindur, aged 39, pursued a role in the care industry after leaving her role as a graphic designer in search of a more fulfilling career. She moved to England from Poland in 2008 to work in care and nursing homes, though complications through an autoimmune disease and permanent injuries to her back suffered in a road traffic accident meant she later switched to working in supported living, which was less p hysically demanding.

But COVID-19 meant Max was asked to shield because of her suppressed immune system, and as such needed to find a role which was home-based. Max wanted to use her caring tendencies and professional experience to support others looking to make the next step in their careers, but saw her opportunities limited due to a lack of teaching qualifications.
Support provided by PET-Xi In November 2020, Max was enrolled on PET-Xi’s Team Leading course, after being referred by her Universal Credit work coach. She subsequently gained Level 2 qualifications in IT User Skills, C ustomer Service, Health and Social Care, before being given the chance to s upport the delivery of online PET-Xi classes. Char Bailey, team leading tutor at PET-Xi, said: “Max had a fantastic approach to learning and personal development, and was always enthusiastic in helping and encouraging others. “She is extremely conscientious and showed an instant desire to take up a leadership role, and it is great to see someone taking an interest in the development of others after believing in herself.”
The outcome Max has now taken up a role as an Expert for PET-Xi, leading Level 2 Health and Social Care classes while she completes her Level 5 teaching qualification.
