P E T-X i C A S E S T U DY Briony Martin, aged 30, had been unemployed for a while after finding it difficult to find a job which worked around her three children. She was referred to PET-Xi by her Universal Credit work coach and was pleased to find that the training provider was extremely flexible and could offer her a course to develop her employability skills which could be completed around school hours.

Support provided by PET-Xi Briony completed PET-Xi’s 10-day Step into Hospitality Course at the Metropolis Restaurant, in Coventry. Here she completed Level 2 courses in customer services and food hygiene as well as training in first aid, health and safety in the workplace and Challenge 25. Briony also undertook 30 hours of work experience at the restaurant, received barista training and gained experience working front of house. Sanjay Kambo, professional programmes trainer at PET-Xi, said: “Briony is one of the most endearing and personable learners that I have ever had the pleasure of teaching. “She had an amazingly positive mindset relating to any challenge that she might face. “She has achieved a lot in the short space of time that I have known her, and I can honestly say that I expect her keep on achieving her goals.”

Outcomes Thanks to her success on the programme, Briony has now been employed by PET-Xi in its recruitment department. Her goal is to go on to become a support tutor on the hospitality course, helping others in a similar position to herself.
