P E T-X i C A S E S T U DY Angela Matthews, aged 53, was made redundant from her job as a community learning team leader in October 2020. She had been in the role for a number of years so not only wanted to gain new employability skills, but also develop her confidence to help support her job search. She attended an online event which explained the services offered by PET-Xi, including its careers advisor service.

Support provided by PET-Xi Angela, from Staffordshire, was advised to sign up to PET-Xi’s Level 2 Customer Services programme. The four-day course gives learners information on how to create a professional first impression, how to manage and develop customer relationships, use different communication methods and learn techniques on how to respond to complaints. Learners are also given an insight into customer service legislation and how customer service can impact the success of a business or organisation. The course was led by PET-Xi support trainer Jasmin Westcarr. She said: “The programme helps to equip learners with the skills they need to provide effective customer services. “Angela was one of the standout members of the programme and was extremely engaged throughout the whole course. “She is a really lovely person who was happy to talk about her own life experiences and was also supportive to other learners on the course. Unsurprisingly she was voted ‘star of the week’ by the learners on the programme which was extremely well-deserved.”
