P E T-X i C A S E S T U DY Amelia Morris, aged 22, had worked for around one-anda-half years in recruitment, but left her role near the start of 2020 to focus on a different career path. The pandemic then hit, and the job market became very small, meaning Amelia had to claim benefits as she struggled to find a job. Her work coach referred her to PET-Xi as they felt it would be useful for Amelia to improve her skills rather than let her time out of work go to waste.

Support provided by PET-Xi Amelia joined PET-Xi’s Level 2 Customer Service course in August, which is designed to improve learners’ interactions with customers in a variety of ways. She worked through the five-day course and learned a variety of new techniques including the best ways to defuse difficult situations with ­customers, and how to guide a conversation with a customer to get the best outcome for both parties. PET-Xi’s staff worked with Amelia by providing one-to-one support, teaching online classes, and providing her with workbooks to help ­highlight the scenarios she might face in the workplace. PET-Xi trainer Adam Ashley, who worked with Amelia on the course, said: “Amelia was fantastic – she fully engaged with the whole course and was a pleasure to work with. “Amelia was clearly a very capable person who many companies would be happy to hire in normal circumstances, and I think the course helped boost her confidence. “She is a very positive person and I’m not surprised she was able to find a job once she finished the course.”
