CO-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES AT PERTH COLLEGE
The Perth College Co-curricular Program is an integral component of your daughter’s holistic education. It provides diverse, purposeful opportunities for her to explore her interests, build character, extend her learning, and connect meaningfully with others. Participating in co-curricular activities nurtures skills and dispositions essential for thriving in school and beyond.
From academic extension and performing arts to community service, debating and sports, there are so many opportunities for your daughter to participate, challenge herself and grow. We look forward to welcoming her at her chosen activities this year.

AMEB SPEECH AND DRAMA EXAMS
Offers students the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their performance skills in speech, acting, and dramatic interpretation. The exams build confidence, technique, and communication skills under formal assessment in a supportive environment.

Offers students the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their skills learnt in instrumental/vocal lessons. The exams build confidence, technical skill, musicianship and theoretical skills under formal assessment in a supportive environment.

CAMPS
Through our Years 3–6 camps, students develop resilience, teamwork and independence in an engaging outdoor environment. These experiences build confidence, lifelong friendships and a love of adventure and learning beyond the classroom.
Performing arts
INSTRUMENTAL AND VOCAL TUITION
Perth College provides the opportunity for students to take private music lessons in the areas of instrumental, vocal or theory study. The school employs highly-respected musicians and tutors in their field to teach instrumental/vocal lessons.
YEAR 2 STRING CLASS
The Year 2 String Class is our beginner class for students taking up the opportunity to learn a string instrument as part of the Junior School Instrumental Program. These classes and instrumental lessons are covered by the school. YEAR 2 Rehearsals: Mondays 3–4pm TERMS 1-4
YEAR 3-6 STRING ENSEMBLES
Poco Strings (Wednesdays 3–4pm), Mini Maestras (Mondays 7:30–8:20am and Sinfonietta (Fridays 7:30–8:20am) are levelled string ensembles designed to support student development in string playing. As students reach the required standard, they move to the next ensemble. YEARS 3-6
JUNIOR SCHOOL BAND
Junior School Band is an ensemble for woodwind, brass and percussion students in Year 5 and Year 6.
JUNIOR SCHOOL CHAMBER CHOIR
Open to students in Year 5 and Year 6 who love to sing! They learn music that covers a wide range of styles and have several performances throughout the year.
e P!C YOUTH CO. DANCE JUNIOR COLLECTIVE
Designed for those that are just starting their dance journey, all the way to those well on their way. During their weekly rehearsals, students develop their technique and explore creative processes, while learning new and exciting choreography that they present at the Easter Service (Term 1), SPIN Dance Production (Term 2) and Saint Michael's Day (Term 3).
SPEECH AND DRAMA TUITION
Provides students with the opportunity to partake in weekly lessons in a small group, pair or solo capacity. Students are engaged in active learning experiences that develop clear speech and drama skills, build confidence along the way. Students explore small group plays, drama monologues, performance poetry and readers' theatre throughout the year. They have the opportunity to present at the Perth Speech and Drama Festival (Term 2), North Perth Speech and Drama Festival, as part of tan AMEB examination process and the Perth College Speech and Drama Showcase (Term 4).

Comprehensive Learn to Swim and Squad Programs designed to develop students' swimming abilities and foster a lifelong confidence wand progression in the water.

PERTH COLLEGE NETBALL ACADEMY (PCNA)
Develops students' skills, fitness and teamwork in netball. Through expert guidance and training, students coach younger children to prepare them to represent the school in IGSSA competitions while building confidence and sporting spirit.

ART CLUB
Unleash your creativity! Students can join weekly open studio sessions, explore specialist skills in Artist in Residence Workshops, or take part in our 4-week Art Club each term. With opportunities to work independently or collaboratively, these programs inspire learning, experimentation and fun. Sessions are offered at various times throughout the year so every student can get involved.
SEWING AND TEXTILES CLUB
Discover a relaxing, creative space to explore textiles. Students can sew garments, weave, craft soft toys, try hat making or upcycle clothing. Open to all skill levels, the club emphasises sustainable fashion and creative expression.
EQUESTRIAN
Join Equestrian Club to develop riding skills, confidence and a love for horses. Suitable for students with experience and access to their own horse. Students can participate in lessons, care for horses and enjoy team and individual riding opportunities.
PC PODCAST CLUB
Our Podcast Club explores storytelling, interviewing and audio production. Students can create their own episodes, develop communication skills and share ideas with the school community.
SUSTAINABILITY CLUB
This club inspires students to live by our sustainability pillar. Beyond recycling, students explore ways to reduce their carbon footprint and make a positive impact on the environment. Students become environmental champions, leading projects and learning how their choices can make a positive impact on the planet.

WORLD SCHOLARS CUP
Invites students to explore global topics through team-based challenges in debate, writing, quizzes, and collaborative projects. The program encourages critical thinking, creativity and teamwork in a fun, international competition.
MOCK TRIALS
Offers students hands-on experience of the legal system through simulated court cases. Teams contest fictitious legal matters in a real courtroom at the Supreme Court of Western Australia. Open to all students in Years 10-12, the Interschool Mock Trial Competition provides an enjoyable and dynamic way to develop critical thinking, public speaking and teamwork skills while deepening their understanding of the law.
SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
Challenges students to apply scientific knowledge and problem-solving skills in exciting, hands-on competitions. Participants explore STEM concepts, collaborate in teams and develop critical thinking in a fun and engaging environment.
BRAIN BOOST
An after-school tutoring program run by school staff to support students in their learning. Focused on reinforcing classroom concepts and building confidence, it provides personalised help across a range of subjects in a supportive environment.
PC+
An evening academic support program offering tutoring with university students (usually old girls). PC+ runs from Term 1 to Term 4 and includes dinner for students. Provides personalised learning across subjects, helping students reinforce concepts and develop study skills. Please note, PC+ has an associated cost.

TITRATION STAKES
Titration Stakes challenges students to test their chemistry skills in a fun, competitive environment. Sharpen lab techniques, problem-solving, and precision while enjoying hands-on experiments.
TOURNAMENT OF MINDS
Challenges students to solve complex, open-ended problems in teams across disciplines like STEM, arts, and social sciences. The competition fosters creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking in a fun and dynamic environment.
DA VINCI DECATHLON
A team-based academic competition that challenges students across ten disciplines, including mathematics, science, arts, and creative thinking. It encourages problem-solving, collaboration and intellectual curiosity in a fun and engaging environment.
FIRST LEGO LEAGUE CHALLENGE
Teams of students engage in research, problem solving, coding and engineering to build and program a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of a robot game in this friendly competition.
GIRLS+ ENGINEERING TOMORROW (GET) FORUM
Run by Curtin University, the GET Forum provides opportunities for students to participate in hands-on engineering workshops, meet university and industry role models, and hear from women in engineering about the wide range of career pathways available.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP TEAM
Empowers students to lead, represent their peers, and contribute to school life. Members develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills while helping shape initiatives and activities across the school community.

DISABILITY SUPPORT – OCEAN HEROES
Empowers students to give back through surf-based programs that support children with autism. By volunteering, students help create inclusive, confidence-building experiences while developing empathy and community spirit.
ANGLICARE AMBASSADORS
Students represent the School in supporting community initiatives and social justice projects. They develop leadership and advocacy skills while raising awareness and making a positive impact through service.
WORLD’S GREATEST SHAVE
Students help raise vital funds for blood cancer research and support those affected. This initiative fosters compassion, community spirit and a powerful sense of making a difference.
ANGLICARE SLEEPOUT
Raises awareness of homelessness by giving students the opportunity to experience a night of sleeping rough. Participants build empathy, leadership and advocacy skills while supporting vital community services.
PARKERVILLE CHILDREN AND YOUTH CARE
By supporting Parkerville Children and Youth Care, students contribute to initiatives that assist vulnerable young people and families. This program builds awareness, empathy and a strong commitment to community service.

PC OUT YONDER TOUR
By participating in the Out Yonder tour, students support initiatives that enrich the lives of children in Laverton. This program nurtures empathy, cultural understanding and a strong commitment to community engagement.

A large-scale contemporary theatrical production that blends movement, scripted work and mesmerising design together on stage.
e P!C YOUTH CO. DANCE COLLECTIVES
Designed for both students who are starting out their co-curricular dance journey at Perth College and for those that may have more extensive experience. During their weekly rehearsals, students develop and enhance their technique, extending their understanding of creative processes. They compose and learn choreography in a set style/genre of their preference that they present as part of the SPIN Dance Production and possibly the IGSSA Dance Festival.
e P!C YOUTH CO. DRAMA COLLECTIVE PLAYground is a workshop series that enables students to connect with guest industry artists to explore and create new scripted or existing works and to enhance their voice, movement, directing and design techniques.

e P!C YOUTH CO. BACKSTAGE CREW AND DESIGNERS
Across the year, students can apply to work with professional technicians and designers as they learn all about the world of backstage production processes or further enhance their existing design skills. They will then step in to apply their skills as they take part in various dance, drama and/or musical theatre productions. Roles include:
• Technical crew (sound, lighting, stage management, backstage crew)
• Costume design construction
• Hair and/or makeup application
• Props and scenery design and construction
CHORAL ENSEMBLES
YEAR 7 –8 CHORALE
Year 7–8 Chorale is an un-auditioned choir that sings music from a wide range of styles and genres. This ensemble has several performances a year and students are invited on Year 7–10 Music Camp.
COLLEGE CHORALE
College Chorale is an un-auditioned choir open to students in Years 9 to 12 that sings music from a wide range of styles and genres. This ensemble has several performances a year and students are invited on Year 7 to 10 Music Camp.
PERTH COLLEGE VOICES
Intermediate PC Voices is a 50-voice auditioned choir for students in Years 10 to 12. Auditions for places are held in Term 4 of the previous year. The choir learns music that coves a wide range of styles and genres and have many performances throughout the year.
PC/AQUINAS COMBINED CHOIR
Perth College Voices and Aquinas College Senior Choir combine to form a mixed SATB ensemble that performs music from a wide range of styles and genres. This collaborative choir provides students with the opportunity to extend their choral experience.
YEAR 11 CONTEMPORARY VOICES
Year 11 Contemporary Voices is an auditioned ensemble of up to 12 members. This ensemble sings a wide variety of contemporary genres of music. Members of the Year 11 Contemporary Voices must also be a member of either College Chorale or PC Voices.
YEAR 12 CONTEMPORARY VOICES
Year 12 Contemporary Voices is an auditioned ensemble of up to 12 members. This ensemble sings a wide variety of contemporary genres of music. Members of the Year 12 Contemporary Voices must also be a member of either College Chorale or PC Voices.

Camerata Orchestra is an auditioned string orchestra open to Senior School string players of an intermediate standard.

Perth College and Aquinas College string players combine to form the PC/Aquinas Senior String Orchestra.
INTERMEDIATE BAND
Intermediate Band is an auditioned intermediate level concert band open to Senior School woodwind, brass and percussion students.

This unauditioned band performs both instrumental and vocal repertoire from a wide variety of contemporary styles, including jazz, funk, pop, rock and fusion.
SENIOR JAZZ BAND
This jazz band is for Senior School students who would like to play jazz at a high standard as well as those who are interested in improvisation. Members of the Senior Jazz Band must also be members of either Intermediate Band or PC/Aquinas Concert Band.

Provides select high-performing student athletes with a personalised suite of services, including strength and conditioning, nutrition and mentoring, to ensure they thrive both in the classroom and in their sport.

Students competing in IGSSA Carnival sports can access long-term athletic development sessions which focus on injury prevention, building confidence in the gym and improving physical strength.

Sport
Participation in sport is voluntary but highly recommended. There is a comprehensive range of House and IGSSA sport competitions where students of all levels and abilities are catered for and the emphasis is placed on enjoyment and growth through participation.

HOUSE SPORT
The House Sport program provides inclusive and engaging opportunities for all Senior School students to take part in school-wide sporting events. These carnivals—including swimming, cross country, and athletics—promote school spirit and encourage students to challenge themselves while supporting their peers. Students prepare for these events through training sessions embedded in their physical education classes each term.
Additionally, they have the opportunity to participate in House Sport fixtures held during Friday lunchtime breaks.
IGSSA SPORT
As a member of the Independent Girls’ Schools Sports Association (IGSSA) WA, Perth College students have the opportunity to participate in weekly interschool sporting fixtures and compete in designated carnivals and events throughout the school year.
Our Senior School IGSSA sporting program offers a variety of high-quality opportunities for students to compete at different levels, with a strong emphasis on sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth. Led by our dedicated Physical Education department and supported by skilled coaches across multiple disciplines, students are encouraged to engage fully in IGSSA programs each term.
MATCH DAYS
Generally, fixtures take place on Wednesdays (Years 7 and 8) and Thursdays (Years 9–12). Some sports have full or halfday carnivals.
Due to the closure of the Fremantle bridge in 2026, normal scheduling has been adjusted. Please check the relevant SPACE pages carefully for times and dates of all sport fixtures.
TRAINING
Training and trials are usually held before school (~7.00am – 8.00am) or after school (3.30pm – 5.00pm). Students are required to attend all scheduled sessions. If students are unable to attend, they must communicate this to the sport director or teacher in charge.
UNIFORM
Students must wear their Perth College sport uniform or sport relevant attire. Hats are to be worn in Terms 1 and 4 for outside activities.
TRAVEL TO AND FROM FIXTURES
• The School will transport all students to and from fixtures with Perth College buses or a hire bus.
• Students are permitted to be picked up from external venues if parents arrive before the buses are required to depart.

General information
NOMINATING FOR CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AND TEAMS
Co-curricular activities and team opportunities will be advertised on SPACE the preceding term. Sign-up timelines will vary for different activities. Final groupings will then be uploaded to Consent2Go to obtain parental consent before the end of term.
Please note that activities are dependent on student interest and staff resourcing; not all activities in this bookle t may operate in any given year.
PROGRAM DATES, TRAINING INFORMATION AND FIXTURES
The SPACE pages for each activity or sport will serve as the authoritative source for all detailed information regarding program schedules, training times, and fixtures. Consent2Go will display only the overall season dates, from the first to the final scheduled session. By providing consent, parents and caregivers acknowledge their child’s participation in the activity or sport for the full duration of the term, regardless of adjustments to specific dates, including offsite travel.
Last-minute changes to fixtures
Any last-minute changes such as a fixture being postponed or cancelled will be communicated via SPACE.
OFF-CAMPUS ACTIVITIES AND TRAVEL POLICY
Permission is required for all students participating in offcampus activities via Consent2Go. Where necessary, the School will provide transport for boarders to and from away venues.
Student drivers
• Parents must provide written permission by email for a student driver to travel independently to and from fixtures.
• The parent must also consent for the student driver to carry a passenger.
• The passenger’s parent must also provide written permission acknowledging that their child will be travelling with a student driver.
UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS
Maintaining high standards of presentation is an important aspect of representing the School, both on and off campus. Students are expected to wear the designated uniform for their chosen activity or sport, as advised by the organising staff member.
Wearing the correct uniform demonstrates pride in the School, fosters team identity, and reflects the standards of respect and responsibility expected of all participants. Students who are not in the correct uniform may not be permitted to participate in the activity or fixture.
For sport training sessions, students are required to wear their sport uniform. For fixtures or competitions, students will be notified of the specific uniform requirements.
ABSENCE PROCEDURES
If a participant is unable to attend their selected activity on a given day, they must notify the organising staff member by email. Wherever possible, this notification should be provided by the day prior.
Awards and recognition
The School values student involvement in co-curricular activities with awards presented to participating students recognising their level of involvement, excellence and leadership. These awards are given at various times throughout the year to acknowledge students' participation and achievement.

This award is given to a student who has demonstrated an excellent level of skill, dedication, leadership and service in a particular field as described under the Special Recognition Award section. DEDICATION COLOURS AWARD
Dedication Colours are awarded for commitment and service to a co-curricular activity for five years from Years 7 to 12 (or in the case of rowing, four years from Years 9 to12 and Tournament of Minds for four years from Years 7 to 11).
Dedication Colours will be awarded for IGSSA sports, music, drama, dance, speaking, debating and Tournament of Minds.
HONOURS AWARDS
Honours are awarded for outstanding performance and breadth of contribution across the board to the School’s sporting or arts co-curricular programs.
VICTORY PIN
This is awarded to IGSSA sporting teams that win their division.
