THE 2019 PEUGEOT 208 GTI SE IS HERE
The 2019 Peugeot 208 GTI Special Edition has finally arrived, and it has AEB and LSD. This an even more exciting car than the well regarded current model, Peugeot has dubbed this latest version of their hot hatch as the Definitive Edition. There are a host of driver focused modifications, and now autonomous emergency braking (AEB) has been added, which is a first for the Peugeot GTi variants. Let’s take a closer look at what this model has to offer to whet your appetite and help you make an informed purchase.
A Very Special Send Off This very special 208 GTI variant has been created in part as a send off for a celebrated model that has been a strong seller here in Australia for the last five years. It’s due to go out of production by the end of this year, and now we can get our hands on the ultimate version. However, demand will high as the supply has been strictly limited to just 20 units for sale locally. So, what will the lucky, dedicated petrolhead get for their money?
The 208 GTi Special Edition This limited edition is sold at a premium, but the extras are well worth the additional outlay. The power output from the 1.6 litre turbocharged four cylinder engine is still 153kW, but some upgrades have reduced the 0100km/hr speed to only 6.5 seconds. This extra speed has been found by fitting a Torsen limited slip differential to improve traction. This works well for straight line sprints and for more demanding twists and turns. There is also a new exhaust system that produces a better engine response across the entire rev range.
