Innovation is the engine that drives cluster growth. Building on the foundation of Hamilton’s state-ofthe-art research capabilities, the city has become a leader in life science innovation. Since 2016, surveyed organizations in Hamilton’s life science cluster have commercialized 83 novel life science products with an additional 55 products currently in the pipeline. These same organizations have collectively filed or contributed to 405 patents.

Accessing public sector infrastructure, clinical data and expertise is critical for companies seeking to develop, evaluate and deploy novel innovation. Surveyed companies, academic institutions and research hospitals in Hamilton engaged in 303 collaborative applied research projects in the last year to help bring innovative products to market.
