Looking Forward

As demonstrated through this Cluster Report, Hamilton’s life science cluster has established a promising foundation from which to compete on a global scale. Hamilton is on the cusp of transformational change. New space at McMaster Innovation Park, continued strength in research, and the surge in new companies, has set the stage for Hamilton to become a life science research, commercialization, and innovation hub in Canada.

The Hamilton cluster, and the Synapse Consortium in particular, remain focused on supporting our innovative life science companies, building on the foundation of talent, driving research and clinical excellence, and expanding the infrastructure in the region. We expect to see continued positive trends going forward in the areas of investment, company attraction, and new company formation.

This report represents the first of its kind for the Hamilton region. Moving forward, the Synapse Consortium will create an annual report on the health of the life sciences cluster. This will support the Consortium, its partners, and the broader community, to stay up-to-date on key indicators tracking the performance of the cluster. The Synapse Consortium is open to feedback on ways to enhance future surveys and reports.
