Issue 3

For 2016 our Year 3 Musical Theatre students held their Issue 3 graduating performance at the Kenneth More Theatre in Ilford with a brilliant musical ‘Bring it on’. Over one weekend in early May they dazzled the audience two evenings running with their enthusiasm, energy, ability and sheer professionalism. The musical, inspired by the motion picture of the same name, told the story of a cheerleading crew who were the underdogs but came through in the end, learning a few lessons on the way. This great musical offered countless opportunities and challenges to this year’s MT3 students and its messages of ambition, drive and the pursuit of excellence are extremely relevant to the industry they are about to enter. As they begin their careers we want our students to remember that winning isn't everything, doing your absolute best is. Particular mention to Kayleigh Cook who played the lead role of ‘Campbell’ brilliantly and Tiffany Wells who had the audience in stitches portraying ‘Bridget’ the part of an awkward, shy girl that nobody wants to be friends with who ends up being popular and in the cheerleading crew. The following evening the key roles of Skylar, Kylar, Bridget and Danielle were switched around but the rest of the cast remained the same. This gave a different element to each show with the cast putting their own spin on the characters making it even more enjoyable to watch twice! Well done to the Year 3 Dance students, Mason Boyce, Manolis Georgio, Nikolai Hepp, Jayred Lempriere, Harry Morely, Jordan Rose and Shane Scarth who took part in the musical, as well as rehearsing for their own DT3 show which took place at the end of May. Many thanks to students Isabelle Hetherington, Akeem Hymen, Helayna Liviero and Rhian Gill for helping with the programmes at the shows. Photographs curtesy of David Batholomew ‘Events Photography’
