EMC News – This year’s Stuff the Cruiser campaign raised a whopping 2,097 kgs and $210 in cash. Hosted by the Smiths Falls Police Service, the Community First event cleared last year’s total of 1,839 kgs. Cst. David Murphy and Sgt. Jodi Empey along with the Smiths Falls Police Service extends a huge thank you to all who participated. A big thank you goes to all of the schools that participated including St James the Greater, St. Francis de Sales, Chimo Elementary School, Duncan J. Schoular School, St. Luke Catholic High School, Smiths Falls Campus of TR Leger School and Smiths Falls District Collegiate Institute. The Smiths Falls Community Food Bank and all of the volunteers who helped not only with the Turkey Parade at St. James School, but put in extra time to help everyone load, unload and stock the shelves with the many pounds of food that was collected. “There were many smiles
on many faces from all of the students involved as well teachers and volunteers who assisted in this to the volunteers at the Food Bank who

now know that there will be enough food on the shelves to feed many people who need assistance,” said Murphy. “To all of the students who collected one can or who went out of their way and collected more than their share from friends and families.” “Again thank you very much to everyone involved. Without the participation of so many dedicated people the day would not have been a success that it was,” noted Empey. “We look forward to next year.” Submitted by the Smiths Falls Police Service.
